I did like his phrase
"make an effort to be smart", although I'm not sure what he meant.
From Carry, I'd guess #6.
Smart:
1. clever: showing intelligence and mental alertness smart students
2. keen: shrewd and calculating in business and other dealings
3. witty and amusing: amusingly clever and possessing a quick wit
4. insolent: disrespectful or impertinent
5. tidy: with a neat and well-cared-for appearance
6. fashionable: fashionable and stylish
7. lively: vigorous and brisk
8. stinging: causing a sharp stinging sensation
9. military laser- or radio-guided: used to describe a missile or weapon that is guided to its target by laser or radio beams
10. electronic engineering electronic: with a built-in microprocessor

You can say a lot about democrats but you cannot say they are loyal. Two years ago they elected John Kerry to say for them what he would. Now most have taken 24 hours to poll in their districts who have told most of them they resent what Kerry said. They did not have the inate instinct of what is right and wrong to speak up like the republicans did. So, they set aside their champion and dumped on him in words, but not deeds. They have, with rare exception not demanded he administer a real apology. So much for loyalty..."we must reacquire power". But the democrats could not give a damn less what Kerry thinks as long as it does not adversly effect the democrats winning the House and Senate. They have said Iraq is the main issue. But not one democrat demanded an apology to the men and women who keep the freeedom. He is the defacto leader of the party, and noone in the party demostrates loyalty to Kerry or the troups. The pygmies are headed to the tall weeds.
The voting public has been given one last piece of information to differentiate the two parties. The Republicans have not been perfect. The democrats hate our country and our military. All I ask is that freedom loving Americans take a real look at the difference.

Damn, they dumped Jimmy Carter too, but somehow he crawled out of the dumpster.

2008 is now over for Kerry... He should retire and write books... Yes. "How To Navigate Academia"...
"Profiles In Ketchup"...
"Stuck In The Senate"...
"How To Get Purple Hearts, Without Really Trying"...

They know it NOW because he's been double digits ahead in the polls ever since Lament won the primary. They were ready to throw him under the bus right after Lament, aided by the nutty leftist loonies on their lib blogs, managed to get him through the primaries. "We have to support the dem primary winner" was the mantra, and to hell with Lieberman. But now that Lieberman's so far ahead, they're all his best buddies again. Bah. Those people have NO principles. Those people have NO principles.
The DIMs and Lieberman want RINO"s to think he was thrown under the bus but
MoveOn.org members and Democrat politicians still support him which is evident by clicking on the link. I agree the RATs have no principles but that that doesn't change the fact they are giving him money for his campaign and he is accepting the money.

You know, when I think about it, the Dems have really dissed both Kerry and Lieberman. I guess those who don't produce for the masters must pay.
What an awful party.

2008 is now over for Kerry... He should retire and write books: "My Botched Life" and "Confessions of a French-American Gigolo"...Gigolo? An arrogant sleazeball liar who chases rich old women for money? He should resign and start work on his film "Honey I Stalked a Billionaire."

The Dems haven't abandoned Lieberman. They and Lieberman want Connecticut RINO's to think that so he can be reelected and continue to help the Dims. Read posts #47 and #69.

I knew a mortician that had a very dry sense of humor. If you asked him, he'd tell you folks were dying to hear it...

Tony Snow on BOR thinks Kerry's apology today was acceptable and doesn't think Kerry consciously meant to diss the common soldier.
