Rove: Insulting Military Is a Kerry 'Habit'
ABC News ^ | November 1, 2006 | Ann Compton

Posted on 11/01/2006 2:13:18 PM PST by Dane

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2006 — Karl Rove, President Bush's top advisor, talked to ABC News' Ann Compton about the remarks Sen. John Kerry says were a botched joke about the president, and about Bush's future.

Here is a transcript of the conversation:

COMPTON: Senator John Kerry has made a statement about Iraq. Do you take him at his word that he was talking about the president and not the troops?

ROVE: I take him at his word when he insulted America's fighting forces. This is a habit that he's had over the years. He did it when he came back from Vietnam and there's no way that an individual looking at what he said, which is available on the Internet. Go on and look at yourself. Any American can. This guy was insulting America's troops by suggesting that if you were stupid you went to Iraq.

COMPTON: But he says it was a botched joke about the president?

ROVE: Then he ought to apologize for those Americans fighting on our behalf who thought it was an insult on them. I saw a number of them on the television this morning and it was very clear they took it as a personal insult. He ought to apologize to them and he cannot bring himself to do so this. This is his sort of like his elitist attitude about this. When he came back from Vietnam he slandered his comrades in arms from Vietnam in saying that in the mode of Genghis Khan they raped and pillaged their way across Vietnam. Now, he's suggesting only stupid people are willing to volunteer to fight in our military and go into harm's way in Iraq.

Thanks, Seven!

I would also point out that in the non-apology he is apologizing to those who were mistakenly offended. To those who were NOT offended (like the DU people) he is NOT apologizing.

Ergo, his statement stands and he isn't refuting it, simply saying that IF this offends you, he's sorry. He isn't sorry for his words, simply sorry some people were offended.

Bogus apology. Bzzzzzt. Try again.

Kerry is a filthy gutless wonder. He can apologize by wearing a Star of David T-shirt in Tehran waving an flag with Mohommed's picture on it.

"Whatever happened to an America that closed ranks when facing a foreign enemy instead of making the president fight a war on two fronts?"

I think that notion died around the Vietnam era.

Because JOHN KERRY is Anti-Freedom for others,

.........JOHN KERRY has always been against the very American Institution that's always bringing Freedom to others, our heroic U.S. Military..!!!

The tragic consequences of JOHN KERRY's Anti-Freedom Mission against a Free South Vietnam long ago were:

And now in this new time of war in a new century with our own Freedom directly at stake here at home...

Quo Vadis, America..?

(Quo Vadis = "Where go you..?" in Latin)

"IIRC, Bush's was actually higher.

Then there's that Harvard MBA......"
~~
Add to that a certification as a fighter pilot, not someone who commands his ship to retreat.

Add to that a two term governorship of a major state.

Add to that a two term Presidency.

Yeah, I think Lurch may be a Barbie Doll sort of guy, except Barbie chose Ken.

"You're right. It is sickening. These are the same folks who never let go of the smallest Republican mistake. Did you notice that none of the major newspaper did anything with this story? They sure didn't treat Trent that way... or Newt... or any of our guys. When we make a mistake, they're calling for the rope... Sick."
~~~
I agree wholeheartedly. Ken Mehlman should be calling for Kerry to meet with General Peter Pace to personally apologise and issue a written apology to General Pace with copies to all the command Generals and Admirals, with the apology available for distribution to the troops. Progress against this goal should be tracked daily on major media outlets. After all, as even the Democrats are now admitting, we want to win in the War on Terror.
Well, Rove may be right that Kerry is a 'habitual insulter' of our military, but you must at least give Kerry credit for this--he IS getting nicer in his contempt of our military men and women.
He has gone from accusing our military of being WAR CRIMINALS in Vietnam,,,
to accusing them of being 'TERRORISTS' by 'terrorizing' Iraqi women and children,,,,
to now just being just plain STUPID!!
At least Kerry is making progress in the last 30 years and slowly coming around.
From WAR CRIMINALS, to TERRORISTS, to just being STUPID. At least he has LOWERED his CONTEMPT for the military to ONLY insults.
This IS progress. If he can keep his contempt for the military down to only insults, and not criminal accusations--I think our military men and women can handle it.
