Statement of Senator John Kerry

As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: my poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop.

I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.

It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

Moron, you ARE the issue. You can't dodge it.

Till I actually see the SF-180 he will never qualify as a war hero or combat veteran to me. Actually, he doesn't even qualify as a man. I still have vivid memories of his actions during the Viet Nam war. Excuses will not explain and explanations will not excuse this slimeball's actions from then until now. He loathes the military and you will never convince me otherwise. He needs to resign now.

Gets an "A" from me for this comment.

I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member, or American who was offended.

D. His words were not misinterpreted. As Kerry stated in his previous sentence, the problem was due to "my poorly stated joke". Words matter. We all run into foot in the mouth disease from time to time -- but don't blame this on misinterpretation.

It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy. I don’t want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.

F. If you are going to apologize - apologize, don't go throwing mud elsewhere.

Overall grade for whoever wrote this 'apology': D.

And this grade gives Kerry the benefit of the doubt. Given his past comments, you'll have trouble getting me to believe that his "poorly stated joke" wasn't a true reflection of his heart.

The weasel still says the words were "misinterpreted", which absolves him of any responsibility. What a pathetic loser....

As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear...

He just can't let it go, can he - trying to establish his own personal creds using his very few months of semi-honorable service?,... not that he didn't lie his @$$ off to get some undeserved medals at the same time.

Well, two can play that game.

As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear... you are a lyin' sack of sh!t, John Kerry, and I'm calling you out on it. You never cared about the troops, only yourself. You likely ordered some little staffer to write this and post this, rather than do the manly thing and come out and apologize in person, yourself, in your own voice.

Your phony apology is not accepted.

Once a coward, always a coward.

That's not an apology. That's blaming the victims.

He puts the oweness for his mistake on others...he never admits to any wrong. "Others misinterpreted", "others were offended", nothing there about his clear mistake.

He is a classic example of a pre-madona elitist who in his own mind can do no wrong. A very dangerous person for any position of responsibility.

"It is clear the Republican Party"

STOP there, A$$ PUPPET.

You said it, you take responsibility for it. Blame yourself.
