Bush, Kerry exchange accusations

WASHINGTON - The White House and Sen. John Kerry traded their harshest accusations since the 2004 presidential race on Tuesday, with President Bush accusing the Democrat of troop-bashing and Kerry calling the president's men hacks who are “willing to lie.”

* * *

White House press secretary Tony Snow was asked about Kerry's comment at his regular briefing with reporters, and had clearly come prepared with a lengthy attack. He said the quote “fits a pattern” of negative remarks about U.S. soldiers from the decorated Vietnam veteran and suggested that whether Democratic candidates - particularly those running on their military service backgrounds - agree with their 2004 standard-bearer should be a campaign litmus test. Bush, campaigning later in Georgia, said Kerry's statement was “insulting and it is shameful.” “The members of the United States military are plenty smart and they are plenty brave and the senator from Massachusetts owes them an apology,”

* * *

Other Republicans issued demands for an apology from Kerry. GOP Sen. John McCain, like Kerry a decorated Vietnam veteran and a potential 2008 rival, said while campaigning for Republican candidates in Indiana that “the suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq is an insult to every soldier serving in combat today.” Added House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., struggling to keep his party in control of Congress: “Our soldiers risk their lives in the face of grave dangers on the battlefield, and no one who chooses to courageously and selflessly defend our country can be considered 'uneducated."

MMmm. Repeatedly, Tony and Bush have quoted skerry, it was only skerry who stomped his feet and threw out wild accusations. Once again the MSM flunks Journalism 101.

Saw a frequent poster from Iraq here this morning say something funny -- apparently the troops in Afghanistan are laughing at the troops in Iraq and telling them "they" are the stupid ones stuck in Iraq - those troops now want their t-shirts saying they are stuck in Iraq. Good thing they can laugh about this.

In the interest of full disclosure, the AP should be required to let people know that the author here, Jennifer Loven, is married to a Clintonite Democrat bigwig and power broker. Her "reporting" of the Kerry's NON apology should be considered in light of her direct connection to the Democrat National Committee. AP has been repeatedly contacted about Ms Loven's transparent conflict of interest, which would require her reassignment to other duties in ANY other industry, and has refused to take ANY steps.

That AP continues to use such a tainted source as a "reporter" raises serious doubts about their journalistic ethics and intellectual credibility.

In the mean time both parties sit on their hands screaming nanna nanna boo boo at each other while the following has not occurred. No significant plans for a realistic war time posture in End Strength Numbers for the armed forces. No plans for eliminating the threat in Iraq via military action rather than being an Iraqi police force. No plans for addressing the over-deployment of both active duty and reserve units and troops. No holding Iraq's new governments feet to the fire. Meaning give them a dead line and stick to it. You have X months to organize your government and take charge in a reasonable manner or we eliminate your infrastructure and your next war will be fought with rocks. And no one wants to say why Saddam the man who supposedly started all this was not placed on trail by a U.S. Military Tribunal and is not now at room temperature.

It's election year and what better way to distract voter in both parties from the major issues facing the nation come election time than to involve the nation in a ridiculous dispute which is solely meant to distract voters and gain allegiances for political parties sake. No meaningful security at our nations border while thousands pour in bringing in thugs, disease, crime, and new welfare cases or cheap labor to put Americans out of work. Of course I didn't mention the potential for terrorist crossing as well. No indeed we're too busy searching granny at the airport making sure her face cream or denture adhiesive isn't a liquid bomb.

Our government is much too busy creating the biggest social spending programs since The Great Society at the expense of our national defense and security but that goes unreported as well. Neither party wants to discuss it because both are promoting it. What do we get instead. Two simpletons in high offices having kindergarten level disputes. Yea if anyone thinks either the DEMs or GOP in power is really upset over Kerry's remarks I have a bridge in NYC for sell. Both parties would rather engage the nation in such stupid headlines as this rather than address the issues they in both parties created and then ignore.
