His explanation makes no sense. He was speaking before a group of college students. Typically a liberal group of people. Sometimes even a group hostile to the military. It's obvious he was trying to score points in that environment with that particular group and that potential mindset. You're toast Lurch.

Hope Kerry says nothing!

Stands by his statements.

At least until next Tuesday.

Kerry's tortured explanation? I was making fun of Bush's lack of education. Hmmmm, Bush has a Harvard MBA, while you Senator Kerry have a bachelor's degree. So how could you POSSIBLY have been making fun of Bush's education which is superior to your own? Nice try loser

Kerry's arrogance is really catching up with him from his initial demeaning comment to his attempt to disingenuously say his critics are wrong to want him to apologize to the troops. Kerry thinks he gets a pass because he was a sailor, but in reality because of history, this is more like David Duke telling a racist joke and then acting like it's unfair to call him on it.

Looks like Kerry was reading this year-old article from the Austin American Mis-Statesman.....

Sadly, many now think the military is for losers

"But there is something ominously wrong with a democratic nation that protects its affluent youth from harm, and from service, while putting disadvantaged young people into a meat grinder overseas. There is something disturbing about a nation that beats the drum of patriotism but lets its most privileged young people believe that military service is for losers." - Gary Chapman, REGULAR CONTRIBUTOR Monday, November 07, 2005

Don't tell us that the left hasn't been immersed in this thinking for YEARS.

Yes. I'm cross-posting this all over the place...but there ya go.

Kerry just destroyed his chance to run in 2008. Fine with me. One less idiot Democrat running the better.

What I find fascinating is that it seems that MSM (as far as I have searched the news aggregators) is ignoring the story on the over-the-top, plainly whacky press release still up on John Kerry's website:

October 31, 2006

Statement of John Kerry Responding to Republican Distortions, Pathetic Tony Snow Diversions and Distractions

Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs, and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”

Why not? I personally think the press release is more unbalanced than even his harangues. Yet not one story that I have found has been devoted to it --- I am not sure that I have seen it even explicitly mentioned.

Nor have the implications of having a second Howard Dean in the Democratic party been mooted yet, though it would seem to me to be an obvious topic for the MSM.

John Kerry put on a pair of pants that belonged to a fellow Senator, and a republican at that, and took his bank account, and his wife. The pants were too big for him, the wife was too big for him, and the country saw that. He still doesn't.

“… If anyone thinks that a veteran, someone like me who’s been fighting my entire career...to help honor what their service is....they’re crazy."

Two words Lurch: "Genghis Khan".

The only one who's crazy here is John Effin' Kerry.

CNN has reported that David Wade, Kerry’s communications director (a challenging job as you can imagine) says what Kerry should’ve said was this: “I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq.”

He would have deserved a b@tch-slap for this, too.

What do these cretinous traitors think they are? Their culture is only fit for a petri dish. They should be driven into the seas so they can be with the gelatinous slime from whence they came. Just pick a coast.

the White House knows this full well, was a botched joke about the president

I would be able to better understand if John Kerry would tell the unbotched version and let me decide for myself.

Maybe people would be more willing to believe that Kerry misfired a joke if it was not for his history of bashing active US military troops. Got Vietnam??

Kerry can't unring a bell. He can say he is sorry that he rang it, but he can't unring it!

If Kerry does not apologize tomorrow, the Senate leadership, democrat and republican, should ask for his resignation! Abraham Lincold would have had him hanged for less........

But this wasn’t a swiftboat operation. Instead, Kerry was struck by his own torpedo which circled back after he launched it to explode right in front of him.

Isn't this how Kerry got one of his Purple Hearts?
