I showed Kerry's quote to 3 people without saying who made the statement. I asked them how they interpreted it and all said it was insulting to the troops. No other way to spin it.
It's a pretty good perspective on what he really thought of the men he was commissioned to lead in Vietnam, too.
Later he called them rapists and murderers, but he clearly had nothing but contempt for them from the start.
That's a GREAT idea! Like when Sean Hannity would read to unsuspecting liberal guests what "The President" first said when announcing the new policy of the United States regarding Iraq. He would read about how "The President" said the USA was going to seek "regime change" in Iraq due to Saddam's possession of WMDs. He then would let the guest spew about how Bush was a liar or stupid for the policy, and then reveals that "The President" that said those things was Clinton. He nailed Charles Rangel on that a couple of years ago. It was a thing of beauty.
