His problem is that he does not fake indignation well.I think you have half the issue down. It's not that he fakes indigination badly. It's that his indignation is fake. He truly believes that the SWIFTIES were lying about him, from what I can tell. He is so narcissistic and deranged that he accepts his version of history as the truth, facts notwithstanding.
So he truly feels outraged. But the outrage is based on falsehoods, and it shows.

When one steps into fecal matter, one should acknowledge it. One shouldn't blame other parties for pointing out the fecal matter on his shoes. Nor should he claim that the fecal matter isn't really fecal matter, but the product of the imagination of those who pointed out the very real fecal matter in the first place.
What a day. Never thought I'd be able to use the words "fecal matter" so often in such a short post....
