"You are a Dem or an idiot. Go listen to Kerry's statement in You Tube"

What I find on youtube is the ten second clip that is easily portrayed as an attack on the troops, but it simply was not. Kerry secretly believes, with all leftists, that soldiers are the dregs of society, I grant that, but this whole quote was a part of a litany of Bush Insults. He meant that if you're president, and ignorant , you end up in Iraq. I know that's what he meant, I suspect Bush and everyone else does too. So I was hoping Bush would stay above this, instead of pretending outrage.

Anyway, as a stalwart Bush supporter and Republican, I am not participating in this dishonesty. Sorry folks, but this whole thing turns out to be a mistaken interpretation. Also Kerry need not apologize when people are spinning his words into an offensive comment against the troops. He was insulting the president. If you disagree, you're hopes and emotions are blinding you.

Again, his words, not mine, not anyone else's. He said it, he meant it, and your trying to convince anyone otherwise is just as bad as his paid hacks in the media doing the same thing.

Words mean things.

Umm, no, you don't know that. Context included, in all fairness, Kerry just dumped a stinky load of hot crap into the Dems' Hallowe'en bucket.

Don't wanna be eatin' THAT candy!

You were there for Kerry's speech? Do you have a transcript for Kerry's entire speech to the youth?

Y'know, if any other random Rat had said this, it wouldn't be as big a deal. This is nothing that we didn't know already, right, about how the Rats feel about our military?

The trick is, we're talking about JOHN FREAKING KERRY. The "war hero." Three Purple Hearts. Decorated Vietnam veteran. Swift boat guy. The guy that sat in front of Congress in 1971 and INVENTED atrocities to smear the American military. The guy that went off in 2005 about our soldiers being little better than Genghis Khan.

If there was one person in the Democratic Party that could not get away with spewing crap like that about our troops--intentional or otherwise--it's John Kerry. Not after what he's done in the past. And then to come out and try to stand his ground afterwards...that's first-degree felony criminal stupidity right there.

Here is the whole point. If Kerry was going after the President, then he should have corrected himself on the spot, or shortly thereafter, saying he meant no disrespect to the troops and restating his sentence. He CERTAINLY should have done it on his website, and of course in his press conference.

Instead, he acts like we all should be mindreaders, and that anyone who didn't "get it" was crazy or deliberately twisting his words.

Since he has yet to apologize to anyone, I think it is fair to take his original words the way they sounded.

Now I know that you are an idiot!

How can you say with a straight face that Kerry was making a joke about Bush?

He was speaking to STUDENTS about working hard in SCHOOL so that they won't end up with no opportunities except MILITARY SERVICE.

There's nothing ambiguosu about those statements, even when heard in context within the entirety of the speech.

Sorry, Dangerfield, but you are doing the DEM's work spinning.

Try listening to the longer one on YouTube but first take out your earplugs so you can hear more than just what you want to hear.

If Kerry mis-spoke, all he had to say was that he mis-spoke. That he didn't do so speaks volumes about his character and it's all low. And I'm stunned and a little sickened that you're defending him.

I understand you feel strongly about this, but I think you are wrong and here is why.

If indeed it was a botched joke then Kerry should have said : "If it was misinterpreted by our Vets and troops, I am sorry."

Instead hecame it was all about him, how the GOP attacked him, how he, a VET, would never attack troops or vets (a lie, he forgot he has been there, done that)

It was all about Kerry and not about how a botched joke could have unintentionally been misinterpreted.

IOW, overkill.

Even ABC news just quoted a Dem congressman saying Kerry couldn't keep from screwing up 2004 now he's doing it in 2006.

But hey, everyone is just not understanding Kerry but you.

"Sorry folks, but this whole thing turns out to be a mistaken interpretation."

I don't buy that.

And even if it WAS intended to be a joke about the President, it's STILL an insult to our Troops.

The only way it could have been intended to be funny would be because, with Kerry's 30+ years of denigrating our Military, testifying that they commit war crimes, saying that they shouldn't be terrorizing women and children in Iraq, we would naturally EXPECT him to be about to once again denigrate our Troops. But NO! Ha ha! He's slamming the President instead? By implying that the President is as dumb as he thinks our Troops are?

Oh, Please...

His "intended Joke" can only be "funny" because it is a twist on the tired and disproved DNC talking point that our troops are foolish and predominantly less educated than average.

Well, if that's the story he wants to stick to then it seems to me he meant to insult not only our President, but everyone who voted for him, and our Troops as well.

Maybe we can get some of our Democrat Representatives to explain... ;-)
