I would have given Kerry the benefit of the doubt, but it is this statement, combined with his previous statements about the military that make his explanation bogus.
And you know that EVERY appearance he makes is videotaped. If he made this joke before, you think they would have run down tape of it by now and had it ready for this press conference.
The comment is too plainly stated. It's a reflection of what he really thinks and there's no way I, myself, could give him the benefit of the doubt. Particularly in light of his inability to apologize for a supposed 'gaff'. He really believes the American people are stupid if he believes he can blow past this with feigned indignation.
Not only his previous statements, but the fact that he followed the statement with his press release attacking republicans for attacking him. Arrogance. amazing.
