John Kerry has never hidden his contempt for the armed forces very well, not even when he served as an officer in the Navy. Yesterday the mask slipped a little bit, as John Ziegler at KFI notes on his website, and Allahpundit mirrors at Hot Air. At a political rally for California's Democratic challenger to Arnold Schwarzenegger for governor, Phil Angelides, Kerry told the Pasadena City College crowd to study hard and get an education -- or wind up like the losers in the military:
You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you dont, you get stuck in Iraq. Wow. Just wow. It's worth recalling that Kerry at one time aspired to command these same men and women from the White House, and claims to still want to lead them. How would these people react to taking orders from a Commander-in-Chief who believes them to be uneducated, lazy losers?
We'll see if Kerry's peers in the Democratic Party support Kerry's description of our fighting men and women. If Democrats that have had John Kerry campaign on their behalf refuse to address Kerry's remarks or openly supports their characterization, it will expose the hypocrisy and the contempt that the Left has for the military. All of the talk of "supporting the troops" will be revealed as lip service.
Will Ned Lamont repudiate Kerry's words? Will Bob Casey, Jr dispute his mentor's characterization of our military as a junkyard for goldbricking idiots? Will Benjamin Cardin affirm that soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines don't have what it takes to succeed in life? Here in Minnesota, does Amy Klobuchar agree with Kerry's analysis? (h/t: Michelle Malkin)
The creep.
Is there any other person on the face of the earth who deserves our unrelenting hatred more than this sorry no good turncoat piece of manure?
And it's a great show.
I'm certain that he would still have found a way to go home early and condemn his buddies in combat, he's that kinda guy.
save
The guy who is always yammering about being "tough and smart" doesn't sound like either. What a dunderhead.
Once again, Kerry has shot himself in the ass.
The man needs a good "Patton slap".
Nevertheless...a very stupid and unthoughtful thing to say as a former and possible future candidate.
If the MSM ignores this slander, it will be one more example of their spiking news in a biased way to influence what Americans know and think. Having been in Iraq and worked with US service members, I can say from first hand experience that our forces there would make all decent Americans proud. They're quick studies, highly dedicated, brave, selfless, honorable, and the finest people you're likely to ever meet. That Kerry chose to slander them as dullard and dolts who cannot make it in the private sector shows how ignorant he is of the men and women who protect our nation. Nearly everyone in the service today serves a tour in Iraq, especially if they're in the Army or the Marines. How in the name of decency can he slander our service men and women and it not be broadcast in the MSM unless it's their slanting of the news?
Kerry, what a deekhead.
Kerry is a complete imbecile. He's almost embarrassing to watch and it's mind boggling and frightening to realize that he was the democratic candidate in '04.
IMHO, if the draft is ever brought back, I think college students should not be exempt.
The liberal indoctrination and the false history taught in the public schools and in the majority of colleges has got to stop.
Don't buy the media spin about who goes into the military. I met very, very few individuals in my time in the Navy who weren't of at least average intelligence. Most were considerably above that. Today's military is technologically advanced. With few exceptions the days of the sub-average ground pounder are long past.
And John Kerry, if he wasn't an insufferable, elistist snob, would know that.
elistist=elitist, of course
Kerry can't even keep his wars straight. We don't have a draft now, Flipper, so no one "ends up in Iraq" - they have to volunteer to be in the military in the first place. Your brain apparently got so fried during the Vietnam years that it is permanently stuck in that era - like many other upper-crust liberals of your ilk.
OH! You're right, it's still October!! And here I was, thinking I wouldn't get to use this:
(That Rove is a damned genius!)
I'm sorry I know you weren't trying to be funny, but your statement was so...succinct.
