Today's military isn't the conscripted forces of his day. These troops are volunteers, gifted, educated, dedicated, brave, honorable, and patriotic unlike like the group of malcontents he hung with. I'm not making a blanket statement condemning the old military but there was a group of sandbaggers in every outfit that spent their time carping about the service and the "lifers". This is where Lt(jg) Kerry earned his wings.
