I just got to this extended thread, so maybe this has already been brought up: When I first read the above quote, I thought Kerry was referring (taking a swipe) at President Bush. Is it possible this is a slam on President Bush and not the military? I just thought the "you" in "you get stuck in Iraq" may be referring to the President.
Naw, I don't think he meant the president.
I think he was between a rock and a hard place, speech-wise. He couldn't say "If you don't, you'll get stuck flipping burgers/waiting tables/schlepping luggage/picking tomatoes," because then he'd piss off illegal aliens and the SEIU.
It's okay to insult soldiers, though, because he knows that most of them wouldn't vote for him even if you put their testicles in a vise and threatened to start turning the wheel. And invoking the spectre of the draft for college students was one of his 2004 campaign tricks. Maybe he thought it worked for him.
Doesn't work...President Bush has a university education and Horse Face knows it. Kerry was talking about the military. There IS the remote possibility that he was aiming for President Bush, but missed the target and hit our military instead.
Nice spin.
Kerry insulted our troops.
