HARD-WORKING families face crippling new bills as the Government fights global warming with a raft of stinging taxes.
Shadow Environment Secretary Peter Ainsworth said last night: “We don’t need a programme of green taxes: We need a green programme, full stop. He was speaking after it was revealed that Environment Secretary David Miliband had already drawn up sweeping green tax plans which he has put to Gordon Brown.
The move came on the eve of today’s publication of a major study on climate change — which some experts blame on harmful man-made emissions. Tony Blair describes the report — drawn up by former world bank chief Sir Nicholas Stern — as the “most important” he has seen since becoming Prime Minister. It is set to fuel the row over the introduction of green taxes.
The report was commissioned by Chancellor Gordon Brown and has taken a year to compile. Mr Brown has recruited ex-US vice-president Al Gore as his green guru. He will advise the Chancellor on international environmental issues.
Prof Julian Morris, environmental economist at Buckingham University and director of the International Policy Network, said: “I’m afraid it will be Sun readers who will be most affected by these changes.
“The price of their cheap flights will rise, making a short break abroad more costly.
“The cost of visiting their family will rise, because of increased petrol duty.
“And people will effectively be forced to buy energy-saving televisions and long-life lightbulbs by a nannying Government. Their whole way of life will alter forever.”

I can't understand how those in the UK can agree to and elect people that are this extreme. Don't they already pay a "TV tax" just to watch television?
So, when the taxes have been in effect and the warming is reversed, the taxes go away, right? RIGHT?

Actually, nothing will change, and the fact that the whole frickin' world isnt' being taxed to death will be blamed, and you know how it ends up.
I read somewhere that the carbon tax is going to be based on how much energy you use. Sounds like new taxes on Natural Gas, Electricity and gasoline for Everyone!
You can pass all the Kyoto accords, and Gas taxes you want, but never forget who is going to have to pay.
Bill Clinton has been in California touting taxes for oil companies to fund ethanol studies. Al Gore would tax the whole world for his greenhouse gases programs, Just remember who takes these taxes up the butt.
Vote democrat if you want to be taxed into the poor house.
To US politicians, all taxes are green.
Great, and the Democrats say they are taking over both houses. Anyone who votes for these idiots will be taken to the cleaners along with the voters with a brain, us. This is nothing more than taking our money for more of their leftist agendas, they are doing the same thing for the so-called stem cell research, they care nothing for either of these issues, this is to simply line their corrupt pockets and steal from ours.
