Can you describe an analog for modern day terrorism from the 1930's-1940's?

That is, stateless entities attacking nation states directly?

Nazi sympathizers marched and plotted in numerous European countries, as well as here.

Stalin was striking up the "Red Orchestra" throughout western Europe, and infiltrating high levels of the British government, if not the U.S. as well.

Mao's Communist movement was becoming a state-within-a state. So were the Zionists, who eventually launched strikes against British civil-military bodies.

Before that, the anarchists and rabid nationalists engaged in terrorism, including the act that triggered WW I. Also guerilla armies took over power next-door to us in Mexico, and came close to doing so in Nicaragua.

So non-state actors striking at their local and global enemies is not completely new.
