It's best to be thought a fool than to post and remove all doubt.

I know it must be gratifying for someone with your obvious limitations to at long last have a group you perceive as beneath you in the pecking order, but this perception is no more true than your childhood imaginings that perhaps next time you'll be chosen for that neighborhood pickup ball game.

Good luck in your search.

I guess your definition of a troll is someone who doesn't think smoking is a good habit.

Metesky must be one'a those 3-pack a day'ers, eh?

That's an understatement.

Three packs, two Whoppers with the works and a 12 pack each and every day for the last 45 years. (Oops! Had to pause to clean the peanuts off my keyboard.) It's so good I don't know why I waited until I was 17 to adopt my daily regimen.

If I seem rude, I'm sorry, but in my experience the strongest defenders of cigarette smoking were those who were the most addicted. No one defends his addiction like an addict, it seems.

I've seen the damage cigarettes can do to a person.

If that isn't the biggest sad-sack line yet. Do you think us fools? Any sentient being over the age of five has seen the damage that smoking can do to some people.

Bub, I'm sixty-two years old. I've had relatives and loved ones die every conceivable way. Only you sanctomonious newbies assume that you're the only ones to have ever endured hardship and heartbreak in their lives.

Get over it, young lady, you're playing with the big boys now.

Well, your tone just cries out for people to shoot back at you, and people on FR are very good at that. In fact, some of them live for it. No offense taken.

I apologize if I came off as "snarky." Some of the criticisms of my original posts were a bit harsh and I snapped back. There are others--whom I won't name--who don't realize how crude and hamhanded their responses are. Just the way it is, I guess.

Explaining to you what you obviously did not understand about nicotine content in cigarettes is somehow crude and or hamhanded? I don't see how that could be, but it must have been, as you ignored the entire post.............after insulting me.........

Naw, it's ok by me. You did the one single thing that saves one from the charge of "trolling." You stayed in there and responded and made your points. Trolls usually post and run. I should know, my hot temper has gotten me in plenty of trouble on this site.

--Again - spouting things you know nothing about--

If that's not an insult, it's an acceptable substitute. There are better ways of telling someone that they're wrong. Anyhow, it's all forgotten.

I didn't realize that making an observation about your comments was an insult. It was the second time you had made a comment that was based, not upon fact, but upon propaganda.

Nicotine has not been shown to cause any disease; it is implicated as an addictive substance that encourages the inhalation of harmful gases and irritants.

In concentration, nicotine can be made into a powerful poison, but so can castor beans.

Smoke stinks, especially cigarette smoke to those so disturbed and that fact is what allows the excess taxation and wholesale banning of the practice of lighting up.

All of the social signs point toward a day when smoking tobacco will be outpaced by toking joints.

In the meantime, we can all benefit from the money being thrown at the problem if we are smart enough to track down and sign up for all the health screening clinics run by the do-gooders and their ilk.

The thing that everybody seems to be ignoring is the fact that just like during the Prohibition days organized crime will now have a big incentive to move in and start filling the demand. I will bet that you'll see hundreds if not thousands of people making interstate runs smuggling cigarettes to meet the demands of people not willing to pay 5 bucks a pack. Should be interesting when in a few years the state starts asking for funds to build jails for all the smokers its caught.

I've been seeing it for years, even when I still lived in Delawre. but now I see it even moreso living in Virginia, just below the Maryland line. Very often my car is the only one in the parking lot of any of 8 cigarette outlets that actually has Virginia tags........the majority of vehicles have NY, NJ, MD, and Mass tags on them......
