It's tricky business to mess with a man's military record, and although Murtha, like Kerry, has not signed a SF180, only veterans would care about that.

That's a tough lesson to learn, but reality speaks volumes.

Most folks are more apt to be moved by the sleasniness of a politician, than his cowardice and coverup 40 years ago.

Corruption is what it is, and with Murtha, the evidence is bountiful.

It appears Irey understands this, and has chosen Murtha's failings as a legislator, not as a disgraced X-marine.

Good for her!

A person could go after his military record. There's plenty of evidence to do so...but there's so much else going on with this guy that it's not even necessary.

The main reason for bringing up ABSCAM is to tie it in with his wheeling and dealing in the House, as well as his brother's work with KSA, thus proving an ongoing pattern of ethical lapses. That would really be the only reason to bring up his military record, for that matter.

Like you've said, the evidence is bountiful.
