Allen appears to have helped the media do their damage.
You say that because you wish it to be such. You don't like Allen and thus you say the above. Even though a total hatchet job was done on this man, you prefer to be on the media's side because you don't like him. Each to their own.

Duncan Hunter is a great American. I can think of few who would be better for the highest office in America.

If memory serves me, PRIVATE INDUSTRY decided to send factories and smelters overseas. So, domestic ones can't keep up.HMMM. Would you rather some soldier in Iraq not have what he needs to do his job, while Union Labor produces only what they have to? Good point. It would be much better to have all the smelters located in, say, China. Then should we get into a war with China we won't have to worry about those pesky American labor unions mucking up weapons production.

Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), with bipartisan support, introduced legislation yesterday that would scuttle the deal; mandate that the owners of "critical infrastructure" in the United States, including ports, highways and power plants, be American; and demand that cargo entering U.S. ports be screened within six months of passage. That bears repeating! Port security is VERY close to my heart too...

Wow. That's some of the most damning..... FUD... I've seen yet about Duncan Hunter.
Not a bit of evidence of wrongdoing, but plenty of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. Are you a journalist?

Lol. Good answer.
We both agree on Duncan Hunter.
Regarding Allen, I don't think he knew how to deal with the media when they went on attack.

He's entering the game late Actually, he's early and it's a good thing, because with the MSM promoting RINOs such as McCain and Rudy, he needs to get his name out there and fire up conservatives.

I agree with you there. I think he was blindsided and stumbled around trying to regain his footing. He's regained it, and now is on a mini roll, I believe.

Congressmen typically do very poorly as Presidential candidates That's simply not true. In fact, I would say that Congressmen make great Presidents because they're in touch with the people and their concerns.
You must be talking about Senators. They're the ones who make lousy Presidents.
To: pollywog
Duncan Hunter will keep our country secure, that's for darn sure. To me, that's the most important issue we face. Without a safe and secure nation, not much else matters to me.
To: Extremely Extreme Extremist
Actually, he's early Maybe he's early where you come from, but he's LATE in Iowa.
I welcome his entry into the fray, but unfortunately most of the really well connected staff people are already associated with other campaigns. And while he can bring new people in, they'll certainly have a very high learning curve with no relationships to fall back on to help build things quickly.
Most of the '08 Wannabes are on the ground and have brought in out of state volunteers to assist with our Legislative races as a gesture of goodwill.

A Duncan Hunter candidacy is highly interesting.
Not that many folks realize that he was the author of the bill to build 700 miles of fence on the border.
I bet Steve King thinks pretty darned highly of him.

This is all good, imo:
Hunter voted against the North American Free Trade Agreement and the Central American Free Trade Agreement and opposed most-favored-nation trading status for China. This year, he was a vocal critic of a deal that gave a Dubai company control of some operations at six American ports.

Hunter said he decided to announce his White House plans after traveling to Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Arizona and Oklahoma earlier this month. Reuters, 10/30/06
Remember, he's been a Congressman for over 20 years. He could easily have connections all over the country. . .
