What was the deal wwith her? Why did she pi$$ off the students?
I'd like to know, too. It's not apparent from the WaPo articles.
It's been nuts in DC - this is a college for the Deaf, and the students decided she wasn't 'deaf enough' to be their Dean, and they have been protesting for weeks, including hunger strikes.
Her problem is that she's not a full bore life-long deaf person and the vocal protesters against her appointment are bigots. In their world she is a half-breed. They have made up just about every other excuse for not wanting her, but it started with her not being one of them.
