Announce a guilty verdict on November 5th and hang that scum on November 6th.

this long only gives everyone involved the distinct impression that our side is a bunch of ass-grabbing idiots who couldn't pour p!$$ out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.It only looks bad from our perspective. From the Iraqi perspective, they are proving that, for the first time in Iraq, someone is getting a full and free trial.
During Saddam's time, you got a 5 minute trial and weren't allowed to have witnesses. As painfully long as this is, the Iraqis are very impressed with the process.

Were I to have had my family terrorized, tortured or sodomized at the behest of that monster, I would not look kindly on the way the trial has been handled at all. Would you?

"We believe that it is necessary to stop this farcical trial and set free President Saddam Hussein, and all the prisoners, because this is the only solution for your troops and your difficult position in Iraq," Dulaimi said. Would you please go kick this Dulaimi guy in the ass for me?
Since you're right there local and all...

No, I wouldn't either, but then I'm an American. However, I read the Iraqi blogs every day and the Iraqis are frustrated that it's taking so long, but are proud that he is getting a free and fair trial.

Yea, there's that - or we could just kill him until he dies from it.
I favor the latter, thank you very much.

How much anyone willing to bet that Saddam is never executed, or even perhaps the trial gets thrown out and he eventually returns to power?I think the odds of Saddam returning to power are about 20% - not bad for a guy dragged out of a spider hole.

One can say what they will about him and his murderous ways, but he is a survivor.
And like I said stranger things have happened, especially over there.

The thing about OIF that bothers me the most is how
ahistorical it all is.
Saddam could have been killed for the cost of a few rifle rounds.

Or better just have tossed a grenade in that hole first, then they had 'plausible deny'
But no we had to do it the 'right way'

everyone wants their time testifying against him. That's nice, but ponder that when we have serial murderers up for trial, we don't haul in witnesses for every one one of their victims. We take a representative sample with the most solid evidence and we try the case. After a certain number, the victims become abstract rather than humanized.
I would dare to say that enough evidence has already been presented to show that Saddam is the monster of all that's been alleged. Now is the time to stop screwing around with his continued outbursts and occasionally deferential (if not outright fawning) judges. In other words, the court needs to s*** or get off the pot.

Shoulda shot the b*stard when we found him... Our guys who found Saddam were fixing to drop a grenade into the spider hole just moments before that miserable puke threw out his gun and surrendered.
