BOSTON Red Auerbach, who coached the Boston Celtics to nine NBA championships in the 1950s and 1960s, died Saturday. He was 89.

Funny you should say that...
I emailed my dad who grew up in Boston and asked if Red ever smoked his cigars during the games. He said, "Only when he thought the Celtics were going to win... and if the game was a blow out, very early in the game."
The GUY I feared the most was Tree Rollins. He tried to bite off Danny Ainge's thumb...
I can just imagine Red is sitting down with Johnny Most up in Heaven to relive the old days. Thanks for everything, coach.
I remember when Auerbach drafted Bird when he was a junior in college because he wanted Larry to play in Boston, because he could see the potential in Bird.
