Muslims in the US are a different lot compared to the French population with North African heritage. American muslims are in general solidly middle class people with higher than average incomes. They are engineers and physicians.
Europeans have a strange schizophrenic stance towards immigrants with lots of talk about tolerance and diversity, while at the same the native-born ethnic population is de-facto shut out of many avenues of French society.
The US, on the other hand, is much more open in letting newcomers to achieve what they are capable of. The fact is that American business life is more likely to give everyone a fair chance at success than the closed world of continental European business where you have to have the right 'pedigree' (educational/social/etc.) to rise to certain positions.
European political extremists (both on the right and the left) absolutely hate the border-dissolving nature of the Anglo-American free market and open society, which is the biggest force in the world towards a world where ethnicity, 'pedigree' and economic class of one's parents are of little consequence.
Ironically, American-style conservatives are attacked as 'liberals' form both the left and right in Europe.

Right.......I particularly like they way Muslims with 'higher than average incomes' use their 'incomes' to fund Madrassas and other institutions of higher learning.
That seals it for me.....Saddam, Kim Jong Illin', Hitler, Stalin, all had engineers and 'physicians' working for them.
Not impressed, sorry.
Most of the funding for the Madrasses comes from abroad, namely from Saudi-Arabia, our supposed 'ally' in the WOT.
I recently saw a beater car with La Raza plastered across the read window in central Wisconsin. Most of those Cheese-Heads (said with great affection for Wisconsin and Wisconsinites) have no idea of what that's all about.
It's only 17 days off of the anniversary of the battle of Tours in 732. The French need another Charles Martel to drive the buggering morons back to their desert crapholes.
By the looks of the last couple of weeks, there's a another ice age approaching. If we can just get all the Mexicans to come up here, we can go down there when they're gone. They'll be chillin' out with glaciers and hunting woolly mammoths.

I hate having to repeat this point, but I will do it once again: the people who are being attacked are just normal people. Many of the people who are being injured are policemen and firefighers. None of the injured are the cowardly politicians. These normal people don't deserve to be attacked any more than any civilian deserves to be robbed. You are confusing blame with stupid politics (and most of the blame still goes to the a**holes who are doing the attacking). The people who are being attacked absolutely DO NOT deserve it. I will not argue this point. But this doesn't mean that France shouldn't take a more active role trying to protect itself. It should. A wise man who works in a neighborhood where he might get robbed will carry a concealed handgun. A country where people are burning thousands of cars and buses should send in the troops.
Ooooh, global warming........we had better sign that Kyoto protocol immediately; oh, by the way, did I mention that communist China and other 'developing' countries would be immune from the provisions......
On a lighter note, I got a laugh regarding surfing and Margaritas.....ah Free Repubic (laughing).

Don't just blame the left and Bush. Even today there are only a handful of politicians who understand the danger this country is in, and even they are not willing to take action. Go visit any international airport in this country and notice how many Muslim immigrants are piling in, daily. Instead, the picture should be of droves of Muslims leaving. Wassamatter, don't you just love diversity?

Yes, a bit of a concern, when three of them bought a 1000 telephones and took out integral parts. Employees at Walmart alerted police. The court released them quickly, I believe. The mighty Mackinac Bridge connecting the Lower Penninsula with the Upper was being photographed. The integral parts were also camera shot- like grids.
Ah well, just lads playing on peoples silly fears, I suppose. I whistle boldly as I pass the grave yard. LOL
