This article tries to mix apples and oranges. Stopping blacks from voting in Florida was an accusation the Dems made against the Republicans, and have repeatedly made in many other states.

So, why would that cause blacks to vote Republican? There's a small logic problem here.

No, the reason blacks may come over to the Republicans is that they are increasingly disillusioned with the Democrats, who promise them much and do very little. We use the phrase about keeping blacks on the Democrat plantation as a way of attacking the Democrats, but there's a good deal of truth in it. They want to keep blacks down, poor and dependent, and eventually that policy is bound to cause disillusionment.

You are so right.

You would think that sooner or later blacks would notice that Democrat administrations with great fanfare appoint an African American to some powerless and stereotypical job and everyone is expected to celebrate it as if it is the Second Coming of Christ -- so-and-so is the new Assistant for the Deputy Secetary of Civil Rights or what have you. The Democrat machine and the media (is there any difference?) will whoop it up about how racism has finally been abolished from the planet because a Democrat President appointed an African American to be the Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Civil Rights. They will declare, condescendingly, that the token black person "will fit right in with that sort of a job."

But let a Republican administration put black people in positions of real power and all you will hear is how these people "sold out" because they accepted positions of real power rather then being tokens in some obscure post the Democrats would have given them.
