I hesitate to mention books that I haven't read myself, but I have often seen favorable references to the works of Stanley Jaki, who spent a lifetime working in this field.

This particular Jaki book [older compared to others, but a 'classic'] was recommended to me by a couple of people I have great respect for but unfortunately still haven't read it yet:

The Road of Science and the Ways to God

One particular person which recommended Jaki to me was influenced heavily by C. E. M. Joad's book.

The Recovery of Belief

It is a story/reasoning behind Joad's conversion from atheism/agnostic, another book on my "I will read this soon" list.

I find that Jaki was awarded the Templeton Prize, so he has received significant recognition for his work.
