The GOP has to earn our vote.

By nominating people like Kathrine Harris, right?

I would like to add that it is a mortal sin to vote for a Democrat.

Also, if you stay home and do not vote, that is a sin of omission.

I agree with what you just said, but...I disagree with your last sentence.

The stakes are too high not to blame someone if they cannot overcome their disappointment on this or that issue and get out and vote. I understand how you feel...I just feel differently is all.

As always, though...you add to the conversation!

Any thinking voter doesn't give a hoot about polls. If they do, they're too stooopid to vote anyhow.

When I see polls around here, this is my response:

You're right. We shouldn't let the Democrats do that. Our very own RINOs are doing each and every one of those very things juuuuuust fine.

Just be gentle with those knives. My back is running out of room.

The "stay at homers" would rather "punish" republicans who don't vote exactly the way they want and have a communist country run by democrats.

Dude, nobody's staying home, OK? Stop with the snob party-hack elitism.

This entire discussion would be moot anyway had the Republicans just stuck to a solid conservative agenda.

Great post! Did you post it anywhere? It's unlikely to be a huge number of cut & run republicans here at Freerepublic.

Thanks for validating your hypocrisy.

We're supposed to crawl through broken glass for Republicans but REAL Republicans like Harris, Mountjoy, etc. get the shaft.

It is not conservatives voters' fault that the GOP loses elections.

Personally, I believe the act of running as a Republican and then behaving like a Democrat once elected is a grievous mortal sin.

With that in mind, my refusal to support such sinful conduct is, by its very nature, a virtue.

For ALL of those who are thinking of sitting out the election. Go back and listen to Zell Millers speech to the 2004 GOP convention and remember WHY we vote.

Scroll down and look for Zell Miller on the left hand side.

I agree and I made it a priority to vote and told others to vote too.

But it's frustrating. The GOP has held power for six years. Look at the spending, inaction on energy, and letting the liberals trash and handicap our troops to the point that it's making the war drag on longer.

In 2008 when the Republicans do this again when they haven't accomplished anything what are you going to do? If not now, when?

BTW, Harris EARNED her support from conservatives. That's why she won the primary, she ran as a REAL Republican and didn't back down from the party bosses.

Isn't it funny how the same people who are bagging on conservatives to hold their nose and vote for their pet RINOs are the same ones who go out of their way to sabotage conservative candidates?

What gets me is that these jokers have the audacity to insist that we should oust RINOs in the primaries...the same primaries during which they repeatedly screech that conservatives are "unelectable."

Personally, I think it's time the RINO-coddlers held their own damned noses and supported the Republican platform for a change. And if they don't like it, they're welcome to switch parties.

You have done a better job of clarifying the Democrat platform than they have.

The truth is, however, I think the GOP is more fired up than the msm would have you believe. While apathetic and underinformed Americans may turn out to the polls once every four or eight years to take a whack at the Presidential election, midterms usually just stir up informed voters and solid citizen types who have a good grasp of the issues at stake and understand that progress or even the status quo is better than backsliding. That is why GOP GOTV efforts are the best in the country. We have the most informed voters as well as the most people committed to doing the tough work.

Those advocating staying home generally fall into three camps: Democrat/liberal demoralization crews, Third-party advocates looking to build their power base, and people who vote based on perception and emotion rather than evidence and long-term strategic goals.

The first two groups are lost causes, but we all occasionally fall into the last group and your post does a great job of bringing us around to the real stakes in this election. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm going to vote all R, but make no mistake, I don't think they deserve my vote this year. They led the spending spree, they have sat idly on their hands regarding the illegal immigration issue, they clam up when the discussion turns to Iraq, and they have walked away from the Conservative precepts. The grassroots is mad, and Republicans in both houses take our votes for granted, as the Dems do the Black vote. The question is: if they retain the Houses, will they continue to take our concerns for granted? If so, in the election of '08, we'll lose it all.

I agree.

I had made up my mind to sit out this election, but Foley, the Reid corruption, and the ramping-up of the "disarm the victim and empower the criminal" crowd ( also known as "we just need a few more sensible gun regulations..." ) finally made me change my mind.

So once more, I will vote "R"- but if I don't see some changes between now and 2008, they had better not count on me again.

You keep repeating this like it means something. I've never said anything like this.

It is not conservatives voters' fault that the GOP loses elections.

That is correct. It's the fault of idiotic, egotistical a$$hats who would rather whine then get half of what they want. They can be of any ideological stripe within the party. I condemn any moderate GOPer who refused to support Tom Coburn just as much as I condemn any conservative GOPer who refuses to vote for Mike DeWine.

The GOP has to earn our vote.

By nominating people like Kathrine Harris, right?

And by supporting conservatives like Randy Graf. The National Republican Congressional Committee (RNCC) more than earned the wrath of real Republicans when they threw their money to the liberal RINO Jim Kolbe in September. Thank God we conservatives didn't listen to the RINO defeatists and stuck to our guns with Graf!

Interesting. They threw their money to Kolbe even though he WASN'T RUNNING?!?!?!?!!?

And will you still be happy if Graf loses?
