I was watching with great humor last night as Prissy Mathews was going on and on about the racist RNC as about Harold Ford and the Superbowl Party. Now he and his guests said it was pandering to the racists in Tenn to show a white woman and imply that whites see this kind of raltionship as a taboo, especially in the south. Well, I decided to do a little checking and thanks to the wonder of the internet, found that Harold Jr. actually has dated white women, and here is her website..... http://www.juliaallison.com/
Now I know the freepers have already published this info before, but given the context of the controversy over the 'racist ad' I thought I would remind fellow freepers of the fact that to point out Harold Ford likes white women is not racist, but a fact........No less than the WashingtoN Post opined on this with the following blurb..........Baugher's weekly column, entitled Sex on the Hilltop, was a hit last year, echoing the success of college dating columns around the country. Of course, attempting to write a column at a conservative Catholic University proves to be problematic at times.
Media outlets such as The Chicago Tribune, Fox News channels The Big Show, and National Public Radio have all noted the splash Julia has made on the Georgetown campus. Julia also garnered local fame when The Washington Posts former gossip columnist Lloyd Grove reported on her relationship with Rep. Harold Ford (D-TN) -- one of Peoples 50 Most Beautiful People in 2001 -- last April Julia Baugher is the pen name for Julia Allison......
I think the point is GOPers DON'T CARE if he dates white women or not, and that's NOT what the ad was about.
Don't know where you're going with this. Don't know if I'd want to follow.
"She (Julia) does not agree that it is hard out there for a pimp.."
Can anyone please explain???
WELL!!!!!!, how so un-politically correct can you be?
lol
If it had been a black woman, they would have said that it was racist also
So? I've seen pictures of the guy. He's damned near white himself.
Only to point out it is the Democrats claiming it is racist to show a white women in the commercial. They can claim racism when none exists, most people are very accepting of inter racial relationships, but the Dems keep dredging it up to try to paint Corker and the RNC as racists. It is akin to asking a candidate whether they have stopped beating their wife yet.
ford is a white hating racist? He seems to be, as he sees racism in a white woman telling him to call her... yep racist alright!
LLS
Ford actually didn't do much of anything scandalous by dating me. Sure, I was younger. And a dating columnist. And white. But he was single, so it's sort of a moot point. I did think it was hilarious when Lloyd Grove's assistant at the Washington Post rang my dorm room, asking "Is it true that you're 18 and dating Congressman Ford?" I was pretty sure I wasn't 18, and told her as much. Then I called Harold, who brilliantly responded, "Wait, you're 18?? YOU'RE NOT 18 ARE YOU?" I remember thinking, "You idiot, if you didn't notice that I legally drank alcohol with you on multiple occasions, you deserve to be caught dating an 18-year-old."
Frankly, I think these attacks by the GOP are stupid. It's possible to be a Christian and like women, too.
"Can anyone please explain???"
If you explain why she has two long entries in her blog about wanting to be slutty.
Her blog is kind of cute.
LOL! Watch Hustle and Flow and call FR in the morning.
She's ok.
I guess she found out he wasn't Derek Jeter.
I agree with you. I had misgivings about that commercial because its almost to funny and kinda of puts Ford in that regular joe motiff. I mean heck who doesnt like Girls and football is something I can imagine being said around the Tenn Tailgates this weekend.
The average Playboy bunny is white and blond. If they had made the girl black it would have been even more awkward.
I do wonder this though. I really dont know how Tenn politcs works or all the social dynamics up there. In Louisiana there is still a little tensios between lighter skinned mixed "blacks" and those that are darker. We still had brown paper bag parties for goodness sakes down here not too long ago. Just wondering if the concern really is not the white racist voter but his counterpart the black voter that thinks Ford is not really "black".

I wonder of Harold Ford checked her ID?
