I know I'm not going to please anyone with this, but:

My buddy married a Filipina, and after a few years, while visiting family in the Philippines, he was astounded as all of the relatives would pick up the youngster (girl in this case) move her panties aside and kiss her privates. He said both male and female relatives did this, and his wife explained it to him why, but for the life of me I cannot remember what the reasoning was.

He told me his jaw dropped and his eyes bugged the first time or two, but after she explained it, he'd just expect it as another aunt and uncle showed up and kissed his daughter.

I don't like Webb (didn't when he was SECNAV either) and am not bringing this up to make life easier for him, but South Asia apparently does have some sort of custom in this area, which freaks Americans out because it is so strange to us.

I understand what you're saying, but I think for someone running for higher office to #1 seemingly promote this kind of unacceptable behavior by writing about without giving context is sick and #2 to actually say today on the radio that homosexual fellatio isn't really sex is sounding just a little too Clintonian for me. (Remember that oral sex wasn't really sex?)

Uh... so? It is not terribly uncommon in South Africa for a man to have intercourse with an infant girl, because sex with a virgin is rumored to cure AIDS/HIV. So instead of being 'freaked out', should we simply accept this as a harmless cultural difference? After all, the guy is simply seeking medical help by one of the few avenues known to him.
