This is the same state, that just days ago was complaining about ACORN submitting 300k new voter registrations, 150k of them with 'inconsistencies' like incorrect addresses, names, pets, dead people, etc...

The same group that got caught doing the SAME EXACT THING in 2004, and was 'warned' about it after reports in 2003.

And 3 days later the voterID law is 'suspended' by a Judge...

SHADY SHADY SHADY

Since when do the counties have to do things all the same? Elections are generally handled by the county authorities with no particular regard for, or alignment to, all other counties. If now they must do everything the same, then they'd better have the same equipment as well! And make sure all the poll workers get the same coffee and doughnuts too.
Where does it say in the law that election procedures and standards are under state rather than county authority?

You need ID to cash a check, drive a car, board a plane, buy booze, but not to vote.

The constitution provides that Congress shall have the power to withdraw jurisdiction from federal courts as it sees fit. If the federal courts insist in acting as a VOTER FRAUD PROTECTION RACKET in such last minute decisions that leave the states with little or no time to appeal prior to pending elections, then Congress should act to say that, as to any law enacted more than 150 days prior to an election, the federal courts will have no jurisdiction to interfere within the 75 days immediately preceding the next general election after such a decision. If there is a practical way to stop state court interference as well, that should be included.

We do not WANT to block illegal aliens.
They are the salvation of the Social Security system.
As Americans age and retire, there are fewer and fewer young workers with paychecks to raid for SS taxes. How to stave off disaster? Let the Mexican come, by the millions, and let 'em work any jobs they want. There won't be enough natural-born Americans to fill 'em anyway. Abortion and driven women pursuing careers have ensured that the birthrate has not kept pace with the death rate of US citizens for a couple of decades now. If it were not for the Mexicans flowing in, we'd be facing a demographic catastrophe. Viva Mexico!

From http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/PublicAffairs/VoterInfoGuide.aspx?Section=1774

Election Day Procedures

Identification Requirements

Ohio voters are now required to provide proof of identity before voting. The form of identification that you may use includes your current and valid state-issued photo identification card, military identification, copy of utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or government document showing your name and current address. (Note: You cannot use as proof of identification a notice that the board of elections mailed to you.) If you do not have, or fail or refuse to provide, the required proof of identity, you may cast a provisional ballot.

R.C. 3505.18(A) Voters must bring identification to the polls in order to verify identity. Identification may include a current and valid photo identification, a military identification that shows the voter's name and current address, or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document, other than a reminder or a voter registration notification, that shows the voter's name and current address. Voters who do not provide one of these documents will still be able to vote by providing the last four digits of the voter's social security number and by casting a provisional ballot. Voters who do not have any of the above forms of identification, including a social security number, will still be able to vote by signing an affirmation swearing to the voter's identity under penalty of election falsification and by casting a provisional ballot. (The above requirement is effective June 1, 2006)

To me, current means current ... within the past month. Thus the logical judge would rule that the counties with less restrictive ID requirements would have to change them. Instead the judge just tossed the whole law.

However, when you read the whole law you realize that you don't really need and ID at all, you just have to cast a provisional ballot and sign something that says you "really, really, really promise that you're who you claim to be". This law was very weak, but it was still too strong for the Dems to allow to stand.

The judge may be right on the merits, but what justifies doing this as the election is underway?

the state's 88 counties are inconsistently applying the rule for people filling out absentee ballots

Should the courts suspend a law because the counties are inconsistently applying them, or should they suspend a law because the counties have inconsistent laws?

I look to the Bush v. Gore case in 2000. The US Supreme Court ruled against Gore because there were no state-wide standards, which is why there was inconsistent application of counting chads. That's not the same thing as having standards, but people aren't following them. In the former case, you suspend the law until state-wide standards are established; in the latter case, you offer training until you are in compliance.

There will always be a certain amount of inconsistency in anything one does due to turnover, does this mean that we suspend everything?

I have a right to vote. I have a right for my vote to count. If voter fraud is allowed, my rights as a voter are being violated.

There must be government assistance for those who claim they don't have the money for the ID. This is really outrageous. In 2008, unless we find the solution, Hillary will get 2-5 million illegal votes. (in addition to the usual dead and other fraudulent votes the Dems get)

Six months is "current"? People around here can move about 5 times in that interval. So can they vote from each address if they have the bills?

This is no time to squabble over voting concerns. Let's put a hold on the law and take this up after the elections are over. /s
