No offense taken; no harm, no foul. I understand how passionate people are about this issue, and their desire to defeat Webb. I just think there are other, better ways to do it, that's all---i.e., the strength of ideas vice the "politics of personal destruction" (ugh, what a term).
Hey, I'm not that into this particular race. I've only read a little about Webb and heard him on the radio once and I wasn't all that impressed, but George Allen isn't exactly a favorite of mine from what I've seen of him, either. The only reason I'd pick Allen over Webb if I was voting in this race is the issues.
I even realize that I might not be interpreting Webb's writing correctly, but I just can't think of any other reason for the inclusion of the passage in question.
I think I'm just having a hard time putting what I feel into these few words and you are probably misunderstanding me somewhat as a result. Anyway, this discussion between us has been good because we should never forget what our soldiers go through mentally, as well as physically.
