MSNBC just mentioned it at the top of the hour in their news.

I saw that. Again, the ewwww factor in these writings is going to bother people, no matter how they try to spin it or make it just go away.

MSNBC is covering it now. Dem says this is no way to honor our troops. Claims it's GOP desperation and question the timing.

They are more than just "Novels". These passages are just horrible. They are going to hurt Webb considerably because of the perception.

This should be nearly as big as the Foley incident.

It will only be big because of Drudge, the internet, and talk radio. Eventually the MSM will pick it up.

"Ummm, not that I support him, but they're NOVELS."

People write novels everyday and don't put homosexual incestuous pediphilia in them. It takes a sick twisted freak to THINK of stuff like that, let alone put it in writing.

What if he was a pornographer? Would they say they are just pictures?

That woman guest on MSNBC is desperately trying to spin this story.

Jim Miklaszewski said on Imus this morning that the books won't make a difference in the election.

Begala was on earlier and spinning this as just novel writing. Notwithstanding the "let's just blow this off" reaction of the "elites", the things Webb wrote have a huge ewwwww factor that will bother the voters. They certainly bother me.

You could very well expect Begala to be spinning in this case. That's his job. But for Miklaszewski to say this won't make a difference is rather presumptuous. How in the world does he know? Imus' next question should have been, "How do you know that, Jim?"

Jim Webb wrote the script for one of my favorite movies. "Rules of Engagement"

AMAZON REVIEW:

Entaining, but dangerous anti-Arab propaganda, 26 Mar 2005
Reviewer: A viewer
As a film, this is good entertainment both in the Yemen action and the courtroom drama, BUT BEWARE its message. The film was described by the American-Arab Anti-discrimination Committee as "probably the most vicious anti-Arab racist film ever made by a major Hollywood studio" : having now seen the film more than once, and thought about it, I can see why. We are initially made to feel some sympathy for the civilian "victims", especially through the images of the little crippled girl and the dedicated Yemeni doctor who deals with the suffering of those shot by the marines. Then, progressively, we have the "truth" of the situation unfolded to us - the end result is that we realise that the doctor has lied, as has every Arab who says anything in the film, and the little girl is an armed terrorist - i.e. we were in fact wrong to have sympathy for all those dead and wounded people shot by the American soldiers. There is not a single trustworthy Arab shown in this film - all are liars and/or terrorists. Also, the film is presented as if it is a recent event from American history, with information about what subsequently happened to the key characters - the Yemeni ambassador to the U.S. reported many viewers asking when this actually happened. This film, with its one-sided presentation of good guys and bad guys, simply contributes to tragic prejudice and misunderstandings of the Middle East situation.

(LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL)

People write novels everyday and don't put homosexual incestuous pediphilia in them.

Especially people who want to be a senator.

I discussed this with my wife this morning. They're novels, and he wrote about bad people doing bad things. That gives him a pass - as a novel writer. Webb's running for the Senate, though, and he has to address this in that context.

But it also reminds people of the cultural divide, and the erosion of decency in our culture. The louder the defense of this "literature" gets, the more nation-wide impact it will have. Not enough to turn losers into winners, but enough to break ties.

Haven't read any of his stuff,
but I'll bet he writes in the
latest Hollywood scripting style.
Authors today are always thinking
SCRIPT; after all, they would have
the last say on "adaptation" rights.

Let's just try to imagine the Dem/Media reaction if George Allen had written this stuff back in his college days.

Ummm, not that I support him, but they're NOVELS.

That didn't make any difference when Mark Fuhrman used the 'n' word in his prospective police novel.

Fuhrman was branded a 'racist' by the Left/media for that.

By the same logic, they should now brand Webb a pedophile. (Though of course nobody ever accused the Left of being logical.)

Sounds like wishful thinking by Miklaszewski. Anybody that reads that junk and decides it doesn't matter has no business voting. Of course, character flaws are a bonus for liberals so it may help him with the kooky left.

He's hoping that no newspaper will pick up the story.

If the Dems don't dump Webb but try to prop him up they are going to look really really bad.
