Does anyone have a copy of the mailer that's causing the flap? I've only heard MSM reports driven by the DemoRats making claims about what it says. I don't trust them. I've seen too much evidence that they distort and misrepresent material from candidates they don't like especially in a close election.

I know it's in Spanish. I'd like to see both the original Spanish version and a good English translation.

Maybe there needs to be a rally at this guys house too:

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-me-nguyen26oct26,1,5080930.story

State investigators have searched the home of a Los Angeles Police Department officer they believe played a key role in mailing out thousands of racially charged letters to Latino voters in an Orange County congressional district this month.

The letter falsely warned that immigrants could be jailed or deported for voting and claimed the state had developed a tracking system to turn over the names of Latino voters to anti-illegal immigrant groups. The letter was printed on what appeared to be the letterhead of a Huntington Beach-based group that favors tightening the border. The group said it had no involvement in the letter.

Here is the letter, can anybody say what is wrong with this, to be printed in our country where freedom of speech is allowed, and no falsehoods are even presented as any form of intimidation to any eligible voter ?

Quote:

Dear xx xx,

You are receiving this letter because you have recently registered to vote. If you are a U.S. Citizen, I urge you to participate in the democratic process of voting.

Be advised that if your residence in the United States is illegal or (in other words) if you are an emigrant (meaning illegal immigrant in this context) , voting in a federal election is a crime that can result in incarceration, and possible deportation for voting without the right to do so.

In the same way, be advised that the U.S. government is installing a new computerized system to verify names of all the newly registered voters who participate in the elections in October and November. Organizations against immigration will be able to request information from this new computerized system.

Not like in Mexico, here there is no benefit to voting. In the United States there is no registration card to vote. Therefore, it is useless and dangerous to vote in any election if you are not a citizen of the United States.

Do not pay attention to a politician who may try to tell you otherwise. They only care about their own interests. They just want to win elections and it doesn't matter to them what happens to you.

Sincerely,

Sergio Ramirez

There is no crime to free speech stating US law,

Thousands of Spanish speaking foreign born registered voters were reminded in this letter that it is against the law to vote if they resided here illegally .

This district (including Santa Ana CA) has a very high probability of a person speaking Spanish they are more than likely illegal, AND if they are registered to vote that does not clear them from being suspect as being an illegal immigrant because This district has a history of illegals being registered to vote in the past, and local media has boasted that they were registering illegal immigrants to vote in this particular elections by the thousands

So bottom line there was no crime committed by the person who sent these letters out in fact he was doing them a service reminding them that some may be illegal immigrants and if they to vote that might result in being deported....
