Democratic Senate candidate Sheldon Whitehouse repeatedly used the president and the Republican Party to hammer Sen. Lincoln Chafee in their second TV debate, while the incumbent accused the former prosecutor of going easy on public corruption.
"I didn't vote for him. Rhode Island didn't vote for him," Chafee said Thursday.
The campaign is among the nation's most closely watched as Democrats seek to win a majority in the Senate.
The candidates met in an hourlong debate taped at WLNE-TV that is scheduled to air Sunday.

I knew Chafee was a Kerry supporter. He says he wrote in "George H. W. Bush" on the ballot, so his vote wouldn't count. Why are we pouring millions into this race again?

Why the GOP keeps supporting this clown is beyond me, but it does.

Then why is he a Republican? Why doesn't he switch? What is it in the republican platform that he agrees with?

All the talk lately on FR and through the conservative blogosphere about conservatives crawling through broken glass and supporting Republicans SHOULD NOT APPLY TO CHAFEE.
I don't care about committee chairs, or holding a Senate majority (in numeric majority only) or whatever, CHAFEE DESERVES TO LOSE.

MONEY of course!!!

But Bush supports this RINO even as he admits he didn't support bush.
Go figure.
To: tennmountainman
W has a couple of RINO issues of his own, but Linc definitely needs to be culled from the herd.

Then why is he a Republican? Why doesn't he switch? What is it in the republican platform that he agrees with? The RNC/NRSC are pouring millions into this race, while they're leaving Santorum and DeWine out to dry and throwing a $5 million+ Hail Mary in New Jersey.

Good riddance puff-meister.
Groveling only alienates your friends and emboldens your enemies.
If you couldn't learn that earlier in life, then I suggest you Google a gentleman by the name of "Neville Chamberlain" and read his biography. Oh, don't worry.
Soon you'll have all the time in the world to devote to some reading.
OK, soon-to-be "Mr. Chaffee"?

Chafee is the personification of the political coward. If I wasn't living through this period of history, I would find it unbelievable. If we had Republicans like Chafee during the Civil War, we'd be two countries.
