ST. LOUIS. -- Hank Aaron refused to answer any questions put to him yesterday at Busch Stadium about Barry Bonds, the San Francisco Giants slugger who is closing in on Aaron's cherished record of 755 career home runs. But that didn't mean the Hall of Famer didn't have something to say about Bonds.

He's not going to get there. Now that everyone is watching steroids closely his production has gone down.
One can hope...but I fear he probably will get there (750 prediction). Then, of course, he's going to shrivel up and die of cancer like so many other athletes who abused their bodies with the drug...I saw the effects once on 60 Minutes in a wrestler named "Billy Superstar Graham"...horrible!
When Bonds does break the record, I hope Hammerin' Hank is there to boo him!
Barry Bonds will never hold a real record,an authentic one. Not even the one that says he was first to hit more home runs than Hank Aaron because of steroids. McGuire probably holds that one.
I was on a flight yesterday afternoon returning to St. Louis and Hank was sitting behind me in 1st. class. I extended my hand and told him that Bonds did not deserve to break his record and that "You are the man!". He said "thank you". I continued asking him who he liked in the series (naturally I am huge Card's fan) and he wouldn't respond, just shaking his head. I responded, "come on Hank, it's gotta be the National League!" He looked around and very softly said "pulling for Detroit". Anyway, what a class act.
