Agreed, but he is not perfect. He makes mistakes. He picked Harriet Meiers. And he is horribly out of touch on his zeal for amnesty for lawbreaking illegal aliens. It is a losing proposition. It has cost him the support of the base and is threatening loss of the Congress.
Sometimes it is your true friends who tell you you've got spinach on your tooth. Your sycophants won't bring it up.
Bush had little to do with this fence. It is a pre-election sop that will be the last such action you see. After the election the President and the RINO senators will be back on their amnesty/open borders/no enforcement crusade.
Give the credit for this one small step to the ones that made it happen - Tancredo, Sensenbrenner, the Minutemen - the ones who WON'T be invited to the signing.
