HUNTSVILLE, Texas Gregory Summers was executed Wednesday for initiating a murder-for-hire plot that authorities said led to the fatal stabbing of his parents and an uncle.
Gregory Summers The lethal injection of Summers, 48, came more than seven years after the execution of Andrew Cantu, convicted of taking the $10,000 offer and fatally stabbing Gene and Helen Summers, both 64, and Billy Mack Summers, 60. Their home in Abilene was set on fire after they were attacked and their bodies were found in the rubble.
Gregory Summers was the 22nd inmate executed this year in Texas, the nation's most active death penalty state. At least three other inmates have execution dates over the next four weeks.

22nd execution is good, but I'd like to see that number up around 40. With nearly 400 on death row, a ten percent annual reduction sounds about reasonable.

Too bad this scum got to live 1/3 of his entire live after he committed his crime. I can't see why it takes so long for justice to prevail.

This catches me by surprise. All I heard about today with the Florida killer scheduled to die.
Of course, it's kinda routine here.

Putting these murdering pigs to death might not stop "global warming" but it can't hurt either.

Perp looks a bit like the actor Ken Wahl ("Wiseguy"). Wonder what his last meal was.

Looks like 25 will be the max this year as there are only three more scheduled for 06 and that assumes none of them get delayed.... 2007 gets a good start as there are three schedule so far in Jan.

Looks like three more for the year. We're taking December off, according to that schedule.

December is usually a slow month anyway. Rarely do we execute anyone after the first two weeks of the month. There was one originally scheduled for Dec. 5th but it was moved to January a while back.

Purely a factor of when the Courts set the date for execution after appeals have run their course. It's conceivable that a Dec date might still be set, but unlikely.
