I don't think that Eddie Gossage liked Dale Jr's comments about his track in Texas!!

Two Chase drivers have weighed in on what they see as a track problem at Texas Motor Speedway. It's the last thing TMS president Eddie Gossage wanted to hear heading into the Dickies 500 this weekend.

The complaints started with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Sunday night after the race at Atlanta: "At Texas, there's a massive bump over the tunnel between turns 1 and 2. It keeps getting worse."

Gossage was not pleased with Earnhardt's assessment.

"First, there's not a bump," Gossage said. "It's a dip. The only bump is the one I'm going to put on Junior's head when I see him."

He better remember who has the most fans that pay the outrageous prices for his tickets and other stuff at TMS.

Robbie Gordon
UPDATE 2: NASCAR announced Wednesday that Robby Gordon has been fined and issued two point-standing penalties, for rule infractions during this past Sunday’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event at Atlanta. Gordon, the driver and owner of the #7 Chevy, has been fined $15,000; he also has been penalized with the loss of 50 driver championship points and 50 car owner championship points. Gordon also has been placed on probation by NASCAR until Dec. 31. In addition, Gordon’s crew chief Greg Erwin has been fined $10,000 due to violations of Sections 12-A and 12-4-N – and 9-4-A (crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his/her driver, car owner and team members). Erwin also has been placed on probation until Dec. 31.(NASCAR PR)(11-1-2006)

So what does this do for Burton, in terms of lost points and position, eh???

To answer my own question, here is a Jeff Burton interviewed on the issue:

JEFF BURTON: I have a tremendous amount of faith that NASCAR does not want their race impacted by an illegal action. And I have a tremendous amount of faith that NASCAR, with the proper amount of time and proper amount of evidence, will deem someone either not guilty or guilty and then punish them accordingly. I have not actively gone out and pursued the footage to make the determination upon myself if Robby was guilty or not, because it's irrelevant to me. It doesn't matter to me who did it, but it is relevant to NASCAR. I have a tremendous amount of faith that they will look at it and if the evidence is there that someone, whoever it happens to be, should be penalized, that person will be penalized. Will that help me at the end of the day? It won't do a thing for me. Whatever points we lost or whatever points we gained based on that incident can't be given back and can't be given away. It is what it is and that's gone. There's no remedy for that. So it's not going to affect me either way. My anger about it Sunday night was certainly directed toward how it affected me and my team and our sponsors. No question about it. But in retrospect, where we are today is to make sure it doesn't happen again. And where we are today is NASCAR's place to make sure that if this...that people won't do that kind of thing, and if they do, make sure they wish they hadn't. There is no remedy. To me, it's over. I don't have hard feelings about it. I'm not mad about it. It happened. Again, I go back I put it on my own shoulders. I'm the one that got a tire down. I'm the one that caused that problem. I'm the root of the problem. I allowed a half a second lapse of thinking put us in the position for something bad to happen. And by the way, it happened. That's how close this championship is. You just can't afford any mistakes. I did it. It's my fault. I put us in the position. And beyond that, it's whatever NASCAR decides to do, that's what they'll do.

LOL I just saw it and came here to post it.

I guess throwing out roll bar padding is bigger than intentionally crashing into someone going full speed during a caution. [Carl Edwards]

I could tell Crash was lying, he should stick to the truth because his face/eyes give him away. I don't condone what he did because it definitely hurt Jeff Burton, but Nascar does need to be more fair and equitable in their penalty handouts.

I really don't know how to handle this because I don't want to be responsible for your trip to the ER. So here it is as nice as I can say... My son saw JR at the show yesterday but he didn't stop because it wasn't Jimmy Johnson...

OMG!! I'm having heart palpitations...

Although I have started liking Jimmie since he and Jr got spun by McWreckers. But, how could anyone pass by Jr?

I just think the penalties to JB were chump change.

NASCAR just lost a lot of credibility with their penalties.

You change the results of a race with a flagrant violation and that's all you get. Heck, do it every week from now on.

Good evening Per. You said...I just think the penalties to JB were chump change.

Did you mean RG (Crash) and the fine?. Hell a team could pay the fine for him if it changed the results to their favor...
