THE son of CBS White House correspondent Bill Plante is cooling his heels in a Martha's Vineyard jail cell for allegedly making a bomb threat, and cops are mystified as to the motive. Cops in Edgartown say John Patrick Plante, 51, a bon vivant who spends the winter in Santa Barbara, Calif., phoned them Oct. 14 to warn that an explosive device had been placed in a bar/restaurant called the Navigator. "We haven't quite figured out why, because it was a bomb threat to an empty building - the Navigator is a seasonal bar open only in the summer," a police spokesman told Page Six. Plante was busted after cops traced the call to his cellphone. He was also charged with drug possession after officers found a stash of marijuana on him. He was being held in lieu of $52,000 bail and is due back in court Dec. 1. CBS said Bill Plante was unavailable for comment. The last time the newsman's son made our page was back in December 2004,

Compared to Martha's Vineyard, Santa Barbara is warm and sunny in the winter.
I'm guessing he was under the influence of drugs when he made the bomb threats.
