Angry Conservatives Coming Home (FReeper Classic)

From a reader:

Jonah, Over on Freerepublic, I've been one of the people who consistently has been chanting for abandoning the Republicans. The fact of the matter is a republican in congress has a lot more in common with a democrat in congress than either of them has with me and the other folks who only get to spend their own money. The contempt they hold for your average American slips out from time to time and it's always disheartening. So come election time, it seems the only tool I have to get them to listen to me is to threaten to withhold my vote and potentially move the scope of all political discourse further to the right. But when the moment arrives, I'm going to hold my nose and vote for the republican lying weasel instead of handing a victory to the democratic lying weasel.

I mean I'm angry... but I'm not an idiot.

Words of wisdom for anyone thinking of staying home (or worse).

I am the same way. In the end, you can't win by not playing.

Well, I feel similarly the same way except I'm vying instead for an honest libertarian...I've had enough of both lying Republicans and Democrats although I have to admit that the Democrats are significantly worse!

It is a sad day for America, but that is what it has really gotten down to...very much the lesser of two evils. I am fed up with the Repubs for MANY reasons, but there is NO WAY I will put a socialist/Marxist in the White House and turn the defense and economy of this country over to the liberals.

That would be the end.

My wife and I voted yesterday. Straight Republican even though two of them did not meet our requirements but they are at least Americans and not Democrats.

Come on home Republicans, it's us against them. The Primary is the time to dispose of RINO's. Once the General Election comes, I will crawl through a hurricaine on broken glass when I'm sick as a dog, if necessary, to vote a straight Republican ticket.

A RINO will at least vote with us part of the time. A Demonkat will NEVER vote with us!

Evidently you don't feel the same way or you would not vote for a libertarian, by all means vote for a libertarian and put the "significatly worse" demwit into office when the vote is split.

That douchebag liberal hump, Tommy Kean Jr., didn't make it any easier to vote for him with his interjecting his baby-killing views into a media-driven debate between celebrities (Limbaugh vs. Fox).

I'd love to deny him my vote, but he's running against Torricelli's marionette, and the thought of that puppet floating more tons of cash towards The Torch is just too disgusting to bear.

Kean - you have my vote. I hope you choke on it, jerk.

"Honest libertarian"

Whoa, that one really sets off the 'oxymoron' meter.

I mean I'm angry... but I'm not an idiot.

We're all angry..it's that time of the year.

The dims are yanking our chains, the MSM enrages us daily with their fabrications, Hollyweirds like MJF are spewing their disinformation (even going off their meds for effect),the voices of reason keep getting yelled down and the people who are supposed to be on our side disappoint us daily.

But, considering the alternative, anyone who doesn't vote in order to make some kind of statement, IS an idiot!

The GOP owes a great deal to the LP for not fielding many candidates this year. Had the LP ran but a handful of candidates in key places, it would have been devastating.

Whoever this person is, well, good for him or her!

Reminds me of the old 1972 Ad Council PSA on voting: "Vote and the choice is yours. Don't vote and the choice is theirs."

Voting is always important. We've got brave men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan putting it all on the line for us so that we can go to the polls.

Think of them when you vote, it that helps; not your creepy congressman.

The answer to conservative anger is for the conservatives to become more active in GOP primaries - raising money to defeat RINO incumbents and nominate true GOP stalwarts.

Voting 3rd party or staying home does nothing to make the GOP more conservative, because the attitude of the RINOs who are in charge of the nominating process is: "Well if the Democrats won it's because our guy was too conservative. We need to find someone more moderate."

The RINOs never react by nominating someone more conservative next time.

Coming home - mighty dysfunctional home. They call you names and shame you for speaking your mind.

That's pretty much what I'll say when I vote for DeWine.

I admit that I voted for Perot and I have since learned my lesson. It's a bad idea to send a message by voting for a third party or by not voting at all. The stakes are high and the voting booth is not the place to be sending messages to flawed Republican candidates. The alternative is brutal.

It's your vote and you should follow your conscience. Don't let anyone pressure you into going against your own conscience.
