"Republicans should reembrace the libertarian principles of the party. They should return to Reagans fiscal conservatism and Goldwaters social tolerance. Reagan won two landslides on a platform of economic reform and smaller government. George W. Bush squeaked through twice with his combination of big-government conservatism and social conservatism. In particular, he lost younger voters 54 percent to 45 percent, and younger voters are the most libertarian. Theyre happy with globalization and economic freedom, but they dont like restrictions on gay marriage and stem-cell research."
Firstly, I don't remember Goldwater's social tolerance. In 1964, I was 14. Me Da was 34 and a John Bircher and I'm pretty sure this is not how auh20 was perceived by the general populace. What's up with GWB as being "big-government conservative" LOL no chancethere. And I employ plenty of 20 and 30 somethings and not one (not one) speaks for the rights of gay marriage. Everyone I've spoken to in the past week (in that age group) thought Michael Fox turned it up a few notches for the election.
They know stem cell research is unproven. Possibly bogus and perhaps just as disingenuous as an Algore environmental presentation on global warming. Yep, that's what I see the heartland youngfolk believing.
