Lincoln Chaffee was a good small city mayor who wound up a U.S. Senator, thanks to the legacy of his late father.
He isn't going to lose because it is RI, but I find your thinking dangerous and pretty common as we come closer to the elections.

Know anything about Linc's opponent, Sheldon Whitehouse?
Find out and then get out and vote for every single Republican, no matter what!

Lessons to take away from this election. We won't win every contest we want to win this year, because the Republican Party has lost sight of certain truths.

1. No more RINOs. People voted for conservatism, but they didn't get what they wanted. Frankly, losing some of these seats won't affect the cause of conservatism whatsoever.

2. Police thyself. If someone's conduct is questionable, then the party leadership should find a suitable challenger for the primary. Crooked government is Democrat value, and that's why we swept the house in '94!

The always acerbic Ann Coulter said all he had to do to become a Senator was to attend his father's funeral. It seems to be a bit more difficult than that this time.
