And thus my question about the two opposite 13th amendments. One pro slavery and the other against... all within a period of a few short years.
The reason I ask about the reaction of the population to the morality of slavery is that I see a coming similar issue between Christians and Secularists or if not on the free exercise of religion, perhaps abortion between the pro-life and pro-choice camps.
Will these two irreconcilable camps lead to another secession? I can easily see California deciding to secede from the Union over gay rights.
Are we heading down a path that this nation has already walked over slavery? I wonder.
