Conservative talk show host accuses actor of faking Parkinson's disease

Possibly worse than making fun of someone's disability is saying that it's imaginary. That is not to mock someone's body, but to challenge a person's guts, integrity, sanity.

To Rush Limbaugh on Monday, Michael J. Fox looked like a faker. The actor, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, has done a series of political ads supporting candidates who favor stem cell research, including Maryland Democrat Ben Cardin, who is running against Republican Michael Steele for the Senate seat being vacated by Paul Sarbanes.

"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

I didn't bother to click through on this article, as I don't even bother with MSNBC, however, if you've been listening to Rush's sbow the past two days, he points out that Michael J. Fox in his own autobiography writes that he doesn't take his medications prior to hearings in the Senate, in order to illustrate the ravages of the disease.

I don't understand why the press is so upset about what Fox has already admitted doing in his own book.

And that includes you Gretchen Carlson and ManCow. I HATE it when people comment on what they are not informed about.

Michael admitted in his book he wouldn't take his meds so would shake more when being interviewed.

The opposite is true. You have Dyskenesia (uncontrollable movements) when you take too much Parkinson's medicine.

I listened to Rush and NEVER once did Rush accuse MJ of faking his disease! Rush read an excert from MJ's book where Fox himself stated that he purposely went off his medication in order to have his ailment more pronounced b before he testified in front of Congress. Fox admitted that he increased the effects of his disease, when he purposely stooped taking his medication, in order to gain sympathy from the US Congress.

Rush only pointed out that Fox was probably doing exactly the same thing in this political add he made for the liberal democrats.

This article goes beyond "bias," it clearly is misleading and lies about Rush Limbaugh. By no stretch of the imagination did Rush accuse Fox of "faking" nor was Rush making fun of Fox because of his Parkinson disease! Rush simply pointed out the facts, facts that came out of Fox's own book he wrote.

Rush has apologized for this. I heard it on CBN news this morning.

WHy did he applogise? Was Fox actually ON his meds?

I hope Rush is on every news channel explaining this.

As I understand it, Fox has become an American citizen.

I have not seen a reasoning for his immigration, however one wonders how wonderful the socialized medicine of Canada has been treating him.

You miss the point: he is campaigning FOR Democrats not for Parkinson's research. To be fair, he has been duped by all the false promises about the potentiality of embryonic stem cell research. These things are as uncontrollable as a fusion reaction.

Maybe you should have listened to Rush. He in no way mocked his illness in anyway. Far, far from it. This article is a complete lie and I don't believe the author even listened to Rush either.

Rush did not mock Fox's disability. Rush merely pointed out that Fox either didn't take his medication or he was acting. Either way, Fox wanted his symptoms of Parkinsons to be clearly visible in this ad in order get emotional sympathy for political gain. Fox even wrote in his book that he went off his meds when he testified to Congress about stem cell research. Fox's apperance was a charade.
