"Society without religion or children is doomed". You are exactly right. But if people really assimilate and have religion to guide them and children, it is a good thing. Our problem here in America is that fewer and fewer people know what it means to be an American and really appreciate what made this country.

I do not think his view of what will happen in Europe is correct. The Muslims who are there now are living on the labour of Europeans. They do not have the skills to earn a living in a competitive global economy. In fact, they don't even remember how to herd goats and sow millet. What the heck would they do to get by if the Europeans disappeared?

Actually, it's almost impossible for it to be incorrect. The bodies are already in place. Europe is already a Muslim continent. You are assuming that Steyn thinks the Muslims will continue Europe's prosperity. They won't. They are a zero sum culture with no idea whatsoever how to have a wealth-producing society. They will trash Europe, just as they trashed every place else they dominate.

Food for thought. How do we move the treasures of the Louve out of France before the Muslims burn them?

At worst if they take over we learn a new language and have to start living in a third world country.

C'mon, that's not fair. Every immigrant I know wants their kids to do better and their grandkids to do even better. The Mexican immigrants I work with hustle like crazy. They are starting to own businesses which the next generation will grow to even larger enterprises with their college educations. It's been proven over and over in this country.

Proofreaders? No, but good Chellspeckers. Or possibly a product of the public education system doing the proofreading that really thinks it is the "Iran Curtain."

NOW I get it!

"slavs"=slaves

I thought at first "What the heck were the Slavs doing fighting in the Civil War?"

They are just as steeped in hatred of the gringo as the Muslim is of the crusader.

I think that you need a little time out. Last I noticed the Bible Hispanics read is the same one I read and it doesn't mention killing Gringos. This Reconquista stuff is way overblown preached lefty little morons and believed by no one.

Hey I was trying to figure that one out too! LOL! Then I sort of decided it must be a civil war in some other country.

Unfortunately that map is no longer accurate. Russia has been experiencing some incredible population changes lately. It may be a majority Muslim nation in just 30 years. With unfortunately thousands of nukes. See link below.

Analyst Predicts Muslim Majority in Russia Within 30 Years.

Believe it or not, the word slave was supposedly derived from the word Slav. It was originally used to describe Slavs who were being imprisoned as 'Slaves'. I think it was the Romans who were 'enslaving' them at the time. So we did not call them 'slaves' before that time. And I do have 37.5 % Slav in me, according to my latest research.

The lack of population growth could be compensated for if Western Europe affirmed its Christian and distinctive national identities. The post-modern multicultural gibberish, pan-secularism and pan-Europeanism make it all worse. There's nothing positive for Muslim immigrants to latch onto. So they hold onto the identity they came with. The greater problem is West Europeans have no clue as to how to make their immigrant populations a part of European civilization.

Steyn seems to be saying that we are outsourcing our baby making needs to Mexico. That our population would dwindle without the help of the huge immigration from there.

Pat Buchanan is a good example. He and his wife don't have any children and also declined to adopt any.

Relatively robust birth rate?

Poland has a birth rate of 1.23, among the bottom five in Europe.

Compare that birth rate to what Steyn writes about Greece:

"It is, in fact, the inversion of the truth. Greece has a fertility rate hovering just below 1.3 births per couple, which is what demographers call the point of "lowest-low" fertility from which no human society has ever recovered. And Greece's fertility is the healthiest in Mediterranean Europe: Italy has a fertility rate of 1.2, Spain, 1.1."

Here are the birthrates of some of the other European countries for comparisons sake. Off course there is the issues in countries with a large number of immigrants, that the birth rates of the native Europeans might be lower than the national average. (BTW: the same applies to the US) Anyways here are the numbers:

Ireland: 1.99
France: 1.90
Norway: 1.81
Sweden 1.75
UK: 1.74
Netherlands: 1.73
Germany: 1.37
Italy: 1.33
Spain: 1.32
Greece: 1.29

Cheers.

It is sad to observe that overall Russians and East European birth rates are far, far lower than those in western Europe.

Well, I realize that you were probably saying it to illustrate the importance of assimilation, but I think that mass immigration is inherently anti-assimilation, so the idea of opening the doors to anyone who wants to come (and who meets usual caveats about not being a terrorist/criminal threat), and then assimilating them, is a higly improbable one. In fact, its probably impossible. Assimilation worked so well for the past mass wave from Europe because the native birthrates were so high, and because the wave itself was cut off and followed by over 40 yrs of low-moderate immigration. And that's just two of the differences between now and then, but they are perhaps the biggest.

Getting rid of things like Multiculturalism is a great idea, but that is a pipe dream so long as we are importing millions who naturally subscribe to it. Yes, I realize that it is our own home-grown white elites most responsible for the scurge of MC, but surely you realize that its impractical to try and do away with it while the number of customers increase. To do so is 'insenstive', and it shows that one does not 'respect and embrace diversity.'

And that's not a knock on immigrants, but rather a reflection on human nature. Why change if you don't have to?

Last I checked the Mexican government was blaming us for their woes in between promising to reconquer the "stolen territories". That was el presidente's buddy Vincente on radio in Mexico city.

The latin gangs row ever bolder. Some of the more extreme ones now encourage rape of gringo girls.

If you heard some of the things the ones in this coutry say in their language, it would curl your toes.

As far as being christians, long point yes and no. England and Spain did not impart similar cultures.

In case your wondering. Comprendo espanol muy bueno.
