ABC News' David Chalian reports: In a radio interview with Sean Hannity, Vice President Cheney was asked what he thought of Sen. Hillary Clinton's chances of becoming president.
"I think she could win. I hope she doesn't. I disagree with her on nearly all the issues, but nobody should underestimate her. She's a very serious candidate for President," said Cheney.
As for that other potential Democratic '08er who has been all the buzz this week, Cheney said, "Barack Obama, attractive guy. Don't know him well, met him a few times. I think at this stage, my initial take on him was he's been two years as a senator. I think people might want a little more experience than that, given the nature of the times we live in. But certainly, he's an attractive candidate. If he decides to run, he'll be a player on the Democratic side."
Vice President Cheney's decision not to seek the presidency (which he unequivocally restated today), is making for the most wide open presidential contest in decades. 2008 will mark the first time since 1928 that neither a sitting president or vice president did not seek the presidential nomination.
A Seattle radio and TV commentator, Ken Schram did a off-air interview with Obama yesterday and he gave his report this morning. In the line of questioning Ken said I am going to name a name and you tell me what you think. Now keep in mind, Schram is not a conservative, so Obama had no reason for saying what he thought the host wanted to here.
GEORGE BUSH
Obama: - Democrats are going to hate me for this, but President Bush is a really really good man. I may disagree with his politically, but he is such a nice man and Im tired of the way Democrats demonize him.
HILLIARY CLINTON
Obama: - She works really really hard.
Thats it, thats all he said about Hillary, she works hard.
