Someone should ask Gov. Doyle why, if there is no reason to be opposed to embryonic stem cell research funded by the federal general revenues, does the University of Wisconsin have a Warren P. Knowles Professor of Law & Bioethics at the University of Wisconsin Law School?

The approach that is used by Democrats to this issue is as if there was no field of bioethics, no question of whether science and medicine can intrude on ethical and moral boundaries regarding life and human dignity.

President Bush and the Republican Congress are not restricting embryonic stem cell research, they are merely prohibiting federal funds from supporting that research. California has floated $3B in bonds, the result of a popular referendum issue, to support embryonic stem cell research. If embryonic stem cells as an avenue of scientific inquiry turn out to be a dry hole - I'm sure California taxpayers will pay the interest costs for years to come with a smile.

The Michael J. Fox ad is very offensive - I hope the Democrats use it everywhere - it's the Wellstone funeral of the 2006 election cycle.
