Adult stem cell research, that is. I know, but watching Michael J. Fox's near-slanderous attack on Senator Jim Talent, you'd have no idea that when Fox says that Talent opposes research into "stem cells," he means "embryonic stem cells." And it's because Fox, tragically afflicted Parkinson's Disease, needs a cure. But Fox doesn't let on that, yes, even adult stem cells have yielded treatment for Parkinson's.
Read the testimony of Dr. Dennis Turner, who suffered extreme shaking from 1991-1999 until adult stem cell therapy, conducted by Dr. Michel F. Levesque, helped give him four virtually pain-free years from treatment. Or the research into five Parkinson's patients who demonstrated a 61% increase in physical coordination and lessening of symptoms.
So yes, Mr. Fox, Senator Talent does support stem cells. He supports adult stem cells, he supports research that has yielded positive treatments for Parkinson's patients, and he did it all without requiring the federally-subsidized slaughter of embryoes. Insert the word "embryonic" somewhere into your vitriolic attack against the senator in a last-minute push for Claire McCaskill, and maybe then you can air that commercial. Alas, but perhaps that truthful commercial would be so much less effective.
MJF is nothing but a socialist Canadian parading as an American.
Has embryonic stem cell research yielded results anywhere in the world? On the other hand, adult stem cell research has yielded several treatments for various diseases.
That's the most despicable lie (of many) from contemporary Democrats: The deliberate conflating of embroyonic stem cells with adult stem cells in campaign ads that say "Republican X opposes stem cell research."
That is just pure evil.
I hate to say that I am liking MJF less and less lately. I'm sorry he has a disease. I'm sorry he feels that embryonic stem cell is the answer. I almost wish that we could let them do all their research (tax paid) so we can say nener nener neennnerrr.
Nah.
>>>I hate to say that I am liking MJF less and less lately.>>>
Of course his career is over, so what does he care?
Has anybody heard of a Canadian pharmaceutical company that has produced a breakthrough miracle cure.
Certainly, it yields tumors.
Doesn't Parkinson's effect your speech?
Doesn't Parkinson's effect your speech?
Michael J Fox was born a Canadian citizen. The type of health care that democrats are pushing is similar to the Canadian model. Michael should go back home to Canada for the cure, surely the Canadian system has one already.
Thus far, stme cells that have been implanted to produce a certain, desired result have yielded immediate tumor growth in the implanted subject. I have heard some researchers suggest we are perhaps ten years away from positive results.
I don't think so, but it can affect your mental capabilites,IMO(i.e janet reno, who also has Parkinson's, attacked innocent people with tanks and gas in Waco, TX.)
"Thus far, stme cells that have been implanted to produce a certain, desired result have yielded immediate tumor growth in the implanted subject"
Would that be adult stem cells or embryonic stem cells?
My husband has Parkinson's and it has affected his speech, his gait, his handwriting, and many other things..
We do not support the use of embryos for stem cell research.
I still like him as an actor, but I despise his politics.
No, but I've heard it will make you double post.
Yes. One of my great-aunts had it and lost all speech ability, long before her mental acuity left her. MJF should thank God on his KNEES that whatever treatment he's getting has postponed the horror I saw her endure.
He's probably on the waiting list in Canada waiting for treatment.
