(MONONGAHELA, October 23) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- responding to Jack Murtha's refusal to meet with her to debate the issues, despite newspaper editorials urging him to debate, a League of Women Voters offer to host and sponsor a debate, and local television stations' offer to air the debate -- today released this statement:
"One week ago today, we began our 21-part series, 'Why doesn't Jack want to debate?' wherein I suggest 21 reasons Jack Murtha might be refusing to debate me in public.
"Today I offer reason number 14 Jack Murtha is scared to debate me: because HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW THAT HE VOTED AGAINST STIFFER SENTENCES FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS CONVICTED OF VIOLENT CRIMES OR DRUG TRAFFICKING.
"On May 11, 2005, the House of Representatives considered H.R. 1279, a bill aimed at reducing violent gang crime. During consideration of that legislation, U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte offered an amendment to add 5 years to the sentence of any illegal alien convicted of a violent crime or a drug trafficking offense, and to add 15 years to any such sentence of an illegal alien who had previously been deported for committing a violent crime and who had reentered the country.
"Further, the amendment would have required the Department of Homeland Security to send all the names of individuals who are subject to deportation orders or who have signed voluntary deportation papers to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
"But Jack Murtha voted 'NO' on this amendment. And he doesn't want to be held to account for it."

Libs always lose when it comes to the arena of ideas and facts. They ARE a living lie, they know it, and they won't debate...the Kerry campaign was a shining example of what you get when you run Marxists for office. So is this.

I keep asking and asking here on FR and never get an answer. Here goes: Any poll numbers on this race?
Maybe Mr. Murtha doesn't want to debate because he's ahead by internal pools?
I'd love to see Ms. Irey kick his butt.

My question is, what's in it for him.
So far, one poll was done commissioned by a paper who supports Murtha. Surprise, surprise, 400 people were polled and they came up with the ridiculous figure that he was 27 points ahead.
Kerry only beat President Bush in the district 51% to 48% so their numbers are laughable, especially with the way the enemedia is projecting the supposed Dem win nation wide.

My question is, what's in it for him.
Very good question, Justa. It seems there are some people who thrive on having power over others. I suspect that and pay offs over the years could be a couple answers.

I have not heard either, and I think that says a lot. If Murtha were running away with the race, they would be singing to high heaven.
At best its close and Mutha doesn't want to make a bad situation worse, or do anything to encourage a strong Pubbie turn out.
I have heard that Diana has not been doing her own polls, simply because of lack of funding.
That's a good bet. If he was behind, he'd be more likely to debate.
Still, there's 2 weeks of hard work left to do. Irey is worth it!
If I were Diana Irey, I'd do what she's doing: throw every available dime into the only poll that matters--the one on election day. Hope you can encourage others to help the good fight and donate soon!
Murtha's vote is just another example of his selling-out to the moonbat base of the Democrat Party. His coddling of illegals also highlights why people in California, Arizona, Colorado--people in states all across America--should see the Diana Irey campaign as a race with national implications!
Who do you keep asking and asking? For the longest time there were NO POLLS (spit) on this race. Lately there have been several. Where have you been?
