CNN's decision to air a video showing snipers targeting U.S. troops in Iraq provoked both rage and praise yesterday, with some calling it a brave move by the cable network and others labeling it a propaganda coup for terrorists.
This is nothing short of a terrorist snuff film, said Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Carlsbad. I think CNN should recognize it made a terrible mistake and pull it. Bilbray, Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine, and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, sent a letter to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld asking him to yank any CNN reporters embedded with U.S. troops in Iraq.
They don't deserve to be with American Marines and soldiers, said Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, at a news conference he and Bilbray held yesterday in downtown San Diego. CNN can't decide which side they're on.
Jeffrey Dvorkin, executive director of the Committee of Concerned Journalists in Washington, said CNN did an important journalistic job in reporting this.
It's enormously important that Americans have a very clear sense of what our military is going through in Iraq, Dvorkin said. It's one of the better pieces of war reportage I've ever seen.
A Defense Department spokesman yesterday declined to comment on the issue.
The cable channel began airing portions of the chilling video Wednesday night on Anderson Cooper 360, after what a network official described as an intense internal discussion over its news value.
Whether or not you agree with us in this case, our goal, as always, is to present the unvarnished truth as best we can, wrote CNN producer David Doss in a blog entry about the taped footage, which was still available on CNN.com last night.

CNN's AntiAmerican MOTTO and CREED : Ted Turner, June 18, 2002:
"So who are the terrorists?
I would make a case that both sides are involved in terrorism."
I wish I could boycott CNN and have it mean something, but I never watch them anyhow.
Anybody out there have a list of their advertisers?
Cooper could have said "out of respect to the families of our soldiers, we will not show this propaganda video." No, they had to go for the ratings and keep the moonbat base happy.
EXACTLY!
Nothing is going to be done against CNN by the gov't, litigation will not work either...
Only when the citizenry is Fed up enough with CNN and their enabling of the terrorists by the obvious propaganda and the constant "hate the Bush Admin" Agenda of CNN, will the first fire bomb sail through the lobby at CNN's headquarters...will something be done. It's sad that it will have to come to that for those idiots at CNN to get a clue...diplomacy has faild with Turner's ilk since the obviously ignore the facts and history.
Gabler is there as the duty lib idiot.
Ewwww.............Crest whitestrips!
Despicable to put it mildly..
I wanna know what Glen Beck, Mr. Conservative who works for CCN, thinks about all this! I recently had CNN and its sheep dip programming removed from my TV, so I haven't heard his take on his libby employers. Does he stand up, address the issue, take a firm stand!
This propaganda snuff film is not unlike the Assassination of Bush film and the more cutting edge shock treatment the American public is being exposed to. Anderson Cooper is pushing the boundary of news broadcasts in the same way as lib Brits & Americans push offensive "art" -- and, as I suspect, to make a name for himself, other than being the son of a Vanderbilt.
Gabler hasn't had an original thought in years. He says what he's told to say.
Then it's even easier. Kick them out of the green zone and pull their ID so they can't get back in.
In fairness, Steve Doocie (this morning) castrated cnn over this "traitorous" enemy propaganda piece.
LLS
who is "Steve Doocie?"
al qeada is embedded at CNN
Weatherman and Co-Host of Fox and Friends on weekdays. He is Brian Kilmeade's partner. It may be Doocy or Doocey?
LLS
oh okay, I don't watch CNN so I didn't know. Thanks.
I have already contacted my senator and representative over this treasonous act and also think cnn should not only be pulled from Iraq but arrested and charges filed.I don't want to hear any of this da*n 1st amendment nonsense, they are not protected by it in Iraq and there are no american courts there to screw it up!
ooooops, my mistake, I have CNN on the brain this a.m...
I am so outraged by CNN's actions...
I don't watch Faux News' whatever program either. LOL
