Rove Road-Tests Tougher Attack on Democrats

Republicans have been promising they would ratchet up the rhetoric against Democrats in the final two weeks of the fall campaign, and the man President Bush called "The Architect" of his political campaigns offered a preview of what they have in mind on Friday night.

Appearing in support of embattled GOP Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds (R-N.Y.), Karl Rove offered biting jibes against House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), took a shot at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and asserted that Democratic policies would leave the country weaker.

"You can't say I want to win the war but not be willing to fight the war," said Rove, Bush's top political adviser. "And if leading Democrats have their way, our nation will be weaker and the enemies of our nation will be stronger. And that's a stark fact, and it's the reason that this fall election will turn very heavily on national security." [continued below....]

"I saw Rove's speech on c-span. It was the best speech I've seen so far during this election season."

I agree. Here is the link to C-SPAN's video. Rove's speech starts about 23 minutes into the video.

Are there Clinton holdovers within the military and DOD, who are undermining our effort?

Bears? Woods?

Barnes is totally a Kristol mouthpiece over this election, all because of McCain being Kristol's ticket back into government policy making.

Kristol is also anti-Rummy (just like McCain) and never has a kind word for this administration until he has no choice but to support it.

As far as people on the ground, I will defer to those who are there, but I believe if commanders on the ground were in disagreement we would be hearing more about it.

I agree with both of you. During an election, the Democrats don't do or say anything that hasn't been thoroughly polled and focus-grouped. The presstitutes are not giving us the whole picture when they say, "The majority of Americans disapprove of the war in Iraq." Why do they disapprove? What do they want done differently? Other than "Fire Rumsfeld!" these questions are never discussed.

I and many people I know fall into the camp that says, "We went to war, we support the President, but we will not support dragging this thing out forever while the Iraqi government dithers and fights with itself. Take the gloves off, knock some heads together and win the flippin' peace already."

That attitude in no way translates into a vote for the Dems, even though the presstitutes would have us believe it does. Pelosi and Co. have polled and focus-grouped the war issue to death, I'm sure, and know full well there's no stomach for impeaching the Pres. on it outside of the Move-on crowd. This fact bodes well for the Republicans next month.

It's good to read your take on the upcoming election CT. It's good to read your thoughts, again. Welcome home.
How's Lisa?

Don't call my President a wussie! What's a wussie? Karl Rove is out there speaking our President's thoughts. I do agree we need someone like Giulani, not because he is an attack dog, but because he is tenacious.

I sure appreciate your historical perspective. It adds needed balance. Keep on teaching us. Very interesting to hear details about the Nixon election during Vietnam war.

Lisa is fine. Although I can't understand why she would put up with me.

She is a jewel. She is the center of my life. She is my reason for being.

I'm so glad to hear that. I didn't know what happened, but I did get a feeling something did, and was sad, because you two were so "matched". It's wonderful to "hear" the happiness in your post.
