The academies commissioned only 17.9% of active component officer accessions and 6.6% of reserve component officer accessions across the DOD in FY2004. Academy grads also made up 17.7% of the AC officer corps (Population Representation 2004). Most officers are not academy graduates, and those that are received extraordinary inspection and training before commissioning. There are better ways for armchair counterintelligence analysts to spend their time than second-guessing the USMA super and his staff.
