My area is on the other side of Wolf Creek Pass, and I haven't been back for years, but I doubt the area is growing. There is no industry, very little to attract tourists, mostly farming and ranching. Manassa, the home place of the Salazars (which I notice they disavow, claiming "Los Rincones" a nearby hamlet I can't find on a map) is a little mormon enclave of about 1000 or less, and the largest town is Alamosa, population of 8000, median income 25,000, elevation 7600. Old joke is that there are 9 months of winter and 3 months of poor skiing.

In a 2004 endorsement for Salazar by the local paper, he is described as a "right-leaning moderate who looks and works beyone party lines". /s sure, I believe that! Would love to see him go down.

We drove through there two years ago. I barely recognized Alamosa from a few years prior.

I really believe Salazar's "moderate" positions have been exposed. This is typical of Democrats. The challenge for Republicans is to expose this behavior and voting record.

Democrats run on one persona but revert to their liberal roots once they are elected.

I am not as knowledgeable as you in this SW CO area. I can only report that Durango, and La Platta County by extension due to Bayfield, is changing the landscape. The "right leaning" group Salazar talks about is really nothing more than support groups to help him win.

Another thing we've noticed. Local programming revolves around the awake and watching time liberals would be watching TV.  No offense to those who can sleep in but one has to wonder how this works for normal working people?
